Product description — Grom Purple Teal

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The Burton Grom Purple Teal is Burton’s go-to junior board for getting young riders out on the snow in the best possible conditions. Designed from the ground up to make those first steps on a snowboard easier, it combines a forgiving profile, lightweight construction, and a symmetrical shape that leave plenty of room for progression.

What’s the story behind the Burton Grom Purple Teal snowboard?

The Burton Grom is a board designed for beginners to start out and progress with confidence. Burton calls this profile "Flat Top": flat between the feet with rocker at the tips, ensuring good balance and easy control of the board. The True Twin shape means that the tip and tail are exactly the same, with centered inserts: young riders can ride switch (i.e., in the opposite direction) without losing their bearings.

Who is the Burton Grom Purple Teal snowboard designed for?

The Burton Grom is designed for young beginner to intermediate riders—both boys and girls—who are learning to snowboard or building on their foundational skills. This board is so easy to handle that young riders never struggle with their gear—they just focus on learning.

  • Young riders taking their very first runs
  • Those who are starting to string turns together and want a board that forgives mistakes

A top choice if: your child is just starting out or improving and needs a board that glides smoothly through their first turns without resistance.

Avoid this if: your child is already at a good skill level and is looking for a board to pull off big tricks.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Burton Grom Purple Teal Snowboard

Can you ride this board switch?

Absolutely: the True Twin shape means the tip and tail are exactly the same, with centered inserts. Young snowboarders can ride switch without any difference in feel compared to their normal stance. This is also helpful for learning, especially when practicing the "dead leaf" maneuver.

What is the construction of the Burton Grom, and why is it suitable for young riders?

The board is built around a Fly Core wood core reinforced with fiberglass, which gives it a moderate weight and a very accessible flex (the board’s flexibility). The result: a lightweight, sturdy board that young riders can master quickly and effortlessly.

Tips and advice

Size of your board?

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
