Description

The Burton Instigator has a slightly directional shape, designed to improve maneuverability and glide over all types of snow. It benefits from a light, flexible and robust construction with a fiberglass coated wood shell, all glued with Super Sap glue, which is less toxic than the epoxy glue usually used in snowboard construction.

What is the Burton Instigator snowboard program?

The Instigator has the directional shape found on freeride snowboards. However, here it's not about venturing into the high mountains or big off-piste areas, but simply about having more ease and control in steering the board and possibly a little more versatility for varying the terrains. In the same vein, the flat camber and spatula rockers provide a secure grip on the piste, reducing the risk of edge faults, and improving the board's ability to break through in powder and processed snow. So, you have the ideal board under your feet that enables confidence, progression and enjoyment of the entire resort as you move smoothly from piste to the edges of the piste.

Who is the Burton Instigator snowboard for?

The Burton Instigator is designed for beginner or intermediate snowboarders. It is an ideal snowboard for someone who has no snowboarding experience or who doesn't snowboard often enough to feel comfortable on a more technical board.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
