Description

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The K2 Afterblack snowboard is a versatile men's freestyle model, designed to tackle kickers, park features, and on-piste turns without having to switch boards throughout the day. Its twin shape and classic camber, enhanced by slight rocker at the tip, give it pop for jumps and enough grip to regain speed on hardpack.

What is the K2 Afterblack snowboard designed for?

The Afterblack is designed for versatile freestyle riding, from the park to groomed runs, with a distinct ease on jumps. The classic camber underfoot provides the pop and grip needed for landings and takeoffs, while the slight rocker at the tip makes pivoting easier and adds a bit of forgiveness. The BAP wood core—a blend of bamboo, poplar, and paulownia—and the ICG 20 reinforcement, a triaxial fiberglass reinforced with carbon stringers, provide responsiveness and stability at high speeds. The 4000 sintered base deeply absorbs wax for fast, long-lasting glide.

Who is the K2 Afterblack snowboard designed for?

This board is designed for regular riders who are comfortable on most terrain and make few technical mistakes, and who are looking for a model that pushes them toward a higher level while remaining fun. Its moderate stiffness and responsiveness place it at an intermediate to advanced level.

What are the main features of the K2 Afterblack snowboard?

Pop

Versatility

Stability

Does the Afterblack handle kickers well?

Yes. The classic camber between the feet and the carbon reinforcements give it pop for jumps and stability on landing, from small jumps to big air.

Can you ride the Afterblack switch?

Yes. Its perfectly symmetrical twin shape offers the same performance in both regular and switch, making spins and fakie riding easier.

How does the Afterblack perform on hardpack?

It holds up well. The camber underfoot and the ICG 20 triaxial fiber ensure solid grip and good edge-to-edge transition on groomed runs.

Does the Afterblack float in powder?

To a limited extent. The rockers at the tip help it lift a few centimeters, but its centered twin shape, without a stance setback, means it’s not a board designed for deep snow.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
