Description

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The K2 Skypilot snowboard is the directional board that refuses to choose: freeride at heart, playful in spirit. A board that rides shorter than usual, without sacrificing any float.

What’s the deal with the K2 Skypilot snowboard?

The Skypilot handles it all: carving, powder, tight forests, and detours through the features. Its directional shape is based on the Volume Shift concept: volume is shifted underfoot, resulting in a shorter, wider board that’s just as float-friendly as a classic model but significantly more maneuverable. Its hybrid camber retains camber underfoot for grip and pop, with rocker at the tips for forgiveness and float. The triaxial fiber with carbon inserts adds responsiveness when pressure intensifies.

Who is the K2 Skypilot snowboard designed for?

This board is designed for intermediate to advanced riders who are already confident on their feet and are looking for a versatile, maneuverable board for the entire mountain.

  • Playful freeriding and forest runs
  • Powder and freestyle tricks
  • One board for the entire season

A top choice if you want versatility and maneuverability without sacrificing float.

Not recommended if you’re a beginner: its size requires you to already have a solid footing.

Frequently Asked Questions About the K2 Skypilot Snowboard

Does the Skypilot’s short length compromise its float?

No. The extra width underfoot compensates for the reduced length: the float remains equivalent to that of a standard-length board.

Does the Skypilot work in the park?

Yes, more so than you’d expect from a directional board: its pop and responsiveness let you have fun on kickers and a few jibs along the way.

What’s the difference between the Skypilot and the Excavator?

Two compact, wide directional boards. The Skypilot is the more versatile and playful of the two, thanks to its triaxial carbon fiber; the Excavator is designed for carving deep turns on groomed runs and in powder.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
