What Is a Speed-Entry Snowboard Binding?
No, a quick snowboard binding won’t help you beat your friend riding traditional snowboard bindings in a race. It won’t make you faster, and painting it Ferrari red won’t have any effect other than making you more visible on the slopes. However, rear-entry bindings do have one major advantage: they save you time when getting your boots in and out.
Advantages of Rear-Entry Bindings
When we talk about speed-entry bindings, we mainly think of rear-entry bindings, which have been the speciality of Flow, though other brands also offer rear-entry models alongside traditional ones. The principle of a rear-entry snowboard binding is to tilt the high back and slide your foot in from the back of the binding, rather than constantly undoing and redoing the straps. This means less time sitting in the snow at the top of the lift, fiddling with your straps, or struggling with a stuck buckle. Their only downside is that they are slightly more expensive than traditional bindings and, according to some riders, slightly less precise in transmitting power to your board.

Many rear-entry bindings are actually dual-entry bindings, meaning you can also strap in from the front and fine-tune the strap adjustments for optimal fit.
