Description

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The Armada Squonk is an freestyle all-mountain snowboard designed to be set up shorter than usual: compact, playful, and built to ride anywhere without any hassle. A laid-back board for riders who want a single board for the entire mountain, including features and trails.

What is the Armada Squonk snowboard designed for?

The Squonk is a freestyle-oriented all-mountain board: it covers the entire mountain, from groomed runs to kickers and features. Its twin-directional shape—generally symmetrical with a slight offset toward the tail—makes riding switch easier while maintaining directional control on the trail. The hybrid camber combines camber underfoot—for solid grip and pop on takeoff—with rocker at the tips to absorb imperfections and lighten the feel underfoot. It’s the most versatile profile—and the one that gives the Squonk its playful character.

Who is the Armada Squonk snowboard designed for?

The Squonk is designed for intermediate to advanced riders looking for a one-board-to-rule-them-all that can do it all without excelling in any single discipline.

  • The all-mountain rider who wants to play with natural features and modules without switching boards
  • The rider who is progressing in freestyle and wants a responsive board that isn’t punishing
  • The snowboarder who prefers varied terrain to dedicated parks

A top choice if you want a compact, playful board for all the conditions of a typical day on the mountain.

Avoid this if you spend your days exclusively in deep powder.

What are the main qualities of the Armada Squonk snowboard?

Grip

Versatility

Playfulness

What size should you choose for the Armada Squonk?

The Squonk is a board that should be ridden 5 to 8 cm shorter than your usual size. This setup accentuates its playful nature and makes spins easier, without sacrificing stability on the piste.

Can you ride the Squonk in switch?

Yes: its twin-directional shape, which is generally symmetrical, makes riding in switch feel natural and accessible. The slight offset toward the tail preserves all-mountain performance in the forward direction without compromising switch riding.

What type of base does the Squonk have, and what difference does that make in practice?

The Squonk features a sintered base, which is faster and more wear-resistant than an extruded base. It glides better at low temperatures and withstands contact with features without wearing down too quickly.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
