Description détaillée du produit — Family Tree Sketch Artist Wind

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The Burton Family Tree Sketch Artist Wind is a freeride snowboard built using the high-end Family Tree construction, designed for high-performance carving as well as powder riding. It’s aimed at experienced riders who want a board capable of handling both hard-packed snow and deep powder with equal ease.

What is the Burton Family Tree Sketch Artist Wind snowboard designed for?

It’s an all-mountain board with a freeride focus, comfortable anywhere but with a preference for powder and carving. Its directional shape, with an 18 mm taper, promotes stability at high speeds and maneuverability in powder. The hybrid camber combines camber underfoot for grip and pop with rocker at the tips for forgiveness and float. Its medium-to-stiff flex allows you to carve aggressively while maintaining forgiveness.

Who is the Burton Family Tree Sketch Artist Wind snowboard designed for?

  • Riders looking for carving performance on hardpack
  • Riders who also want to float in powder without switching boards

A top choice if you’re looking for a high-performance board tailored for carving and powder. Avoid this board if you’re just starting out in snowboarding.

What are the main qualities of the Burton Family Tree Sketch Artist Wind snowboard?

Grip

Precision

Float

Is the Family Tree Sketch Artist Wind more of a groomed-run or powder board?

Both: its hybrid camber and directional shape give it great grip on hard snow while still floating well as soon as the snow gets deep.

Is this board suitable for the park?

That’s not its primary purpose: designed for carving and powder, it isn’t built for stringing together tricks.

What are the benefits of this board’s Sintered WFO base?

It’s a sintered base, which is faster than an extruded base but requires regular waxing to maintain performance.

What’s the difference between the Family Tree Sketch Artist Wind and the Family Tree Smooth Operator?

Both share the Family Tree construction and a hybrid camber. The Sketch Artist Wind is geared toward carving with strong edge grip on the groomed runs, while the Smooth Operator is a 100% powder board designed to float in deep snow rather than hold an edge on groomed runs.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
