Description

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The Jones Howler is a versatile freeride snowboard designed for challenging runs, powder, and technical terrain, with precise handling that remains responsive both on and off-piste.

What is the Jones Howler snowboard designed for?

The Howler is geared toward versatile freeriding, with a directional shape that helps the board float in powder and initiate turns more easily. Its predominantly classic camber profile provides grip, pop, and momentum when the terrain gets steeper or faster. The Power Core combines bamboo, paulownia, and poplar to maintain responsiveness without making the board too heavy, while Koroyd absorbs vibrations at the nose. Traction Tech increases edge contact points to enhance grip on hard snow.

Who is the Jones Howler snowboard designed for?

This board is designed for intermediate to expert riders who love to tackle freeride terrain, carve aggressively, and have a responsive board under their feet. Its camber, stiffness, and grip require technical skill and solid footwork to be fully utilized.

What are the main qualities of the Jones Howler snowboard?

Grip

Power

Lift

Is the Howler suitable for powder?

Yes. Its directional shape, more pronounced nose, and setback promote lift and make riding in deep snow easier.

Does the Howler perform well on hard snow?

Yes. The camber provides solid grip, complemented by Traction Tech, which increases the number of contact points along the edges.

Can you do freestyle with the Howler?

Yes, especially on jumps, side hits, and backcountry freestyle runs. Its pop and stability help with takeoffs and landings, but its directional shape makes it less natural for technical jibbing.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
