Description

The Skunk Ape is effective on all types of snow thanks to its very slightly directional shape and the slightly setback position of its inserts, while remaining well balanced when it comes to placing tricks or switching. It was made in the Mervin factory in the USA, which produces snowboards that are as eco-friendly as possible.

What is the program of the Lib Tech Skunk Ape HP snowboard?

With a nose slightly longer than the tail and a slightly set back foot position, the Skunk Ape benefits from a natural aptitude for curves and powder snow. Its C2 hybrid camber combined with the performance of the HorsePower construction provides a powerful and stable board that works on all types of snow. With this ultra-versatile camber, its slightly directional shape and the extra grip offered by the Magne-Traction edges, you've got what it takes to ride hard on the slopes or off-piste, no matter the conditions of the snow. Additionally, the Skunk Ape also offers great freestyle options, allowing you to send on the big modules in the snowpark.

Who is the Lib Tech Skunk Ape HP snowboard for?

This model is intended for snowboarders with big feet, in need of a wide board that prevents the tips of the boots from rubbing during turns. All Skunk Ape boards, except the size 170 Ultra-Wide, have a width of 26.8 cm which will fit most large feet. For those whose feet are really above average, Lib Tech has created the Skunk Ape in Ultra-Wide for a size 170, with a width of 28.5, one of the widest boards on the market. Beyond the size suitable for tall riders, we recommend the Skunk Ape to experienced or expert snowboarders with a good balance, as it is a good and tonic board.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
