The Trailtalon trail running shoes from Inov-8 are aimed at runners heading out once or twice a week on rugged trails and technical paths, over any distance.
The graphene-infused rubber outsole takes its inspiration from the shape of mountain goat hooves: the 6 mm lugs bite just as well into mud, wet roots and hard rock, releasing as quickly as they grip to help you drive into the next stride. The POWERFLOW PRO foam delivers responsive cushioning without dulling ground feel, which is invaluable on uneven terrain where every foot placement matters. The 6 mm heel-to-toe drop sits in the versatile zone for this category: not low enough to demand a strict midfoot strike, yet not so high that it favours heel striking only. At 620 g per pair, the shoe remains at the lighter end of the average for a model designed to protect on rough ground.
The engineered mesh upper breathes through targeted zones and is reinforced where wear hits hardest, while a MET-CRADLE around the heel and midfoot locks the foot in place on tricky sections. The BOOMERANG footbed returns some energy with every landing thanks to its compressible foam beads, a real advantage as runs get longer.
