What is Gore tex?
Throughout the years, Gore-tex remains the membrane with the best waterproofness/breathability ratio, to such extent that most manufacturers in the trail running industry partner with the brand (if they don’t develop their own), to create shoes that are ready to tackle any condition. The effectiveness of the membrane on trail running shoes can be evaluated through 3 elements:
- Waterproofness: the pores in the Gore-tex membrane being 20.000 times smaller than water droplets, they cannot be infiltrated. This means you stay dry in case of rain!
- Wind resistance: wind that manages to get inside the shoe is often the cause for your feet getting cold. Thanks to Gore-tex, you can say goodbye to this uncomfortable feeling and stay warm.
- Breathability: while water and snow cannot penetrate the membrane, vapour and perspiration are very effectively evacuated.
