Julbo photochromic ski goggles
Why choose Julbo photochromic ski goggles?
A few years ago, the only way to adapt your vision to changing light conditions in the mountains was to swap between interchangeable lenses of different categories. While that’s still possible — and surprisingly easy, even with gloves or mittens — having a pair of photochromic ski goggles is even simpler. In this case, it’s the lens itself that adjusts to the amount of light it’s exposed to. Julbo Reactiv goggles are truly brilliant — they’ll change your skiing experience, offering optimal vision at every moment.

Julbo photochromic goggles buying guide
What are photochromic goggles?
Goggles with a lens that automatically changes tint depending on the light conditions, giving you excellent visibility in all weathers. The promise of Julbo photochromic lenses is simple: wear your goggles all day, from sunrise to sunset, as the lens darkens or brightens to match the light levels. This is ideal for mountain activities — especially skiing and snowboarding. The French brand offers five types of photochromic lenses: Reactiv, Reactiv High Contrast, Reactiv Polarized, Reactiv Glare Control and Reactiv Light Amplifier.
The different Julbo photochromic lenses
Julbo Reactiv: from shade to sunlight
- Photochromic lens (category 2 to 4)
- Highly versatile
The Reactiv photochromic lens is specially designed for skiers in high-altitude mountain environments where light conditions vary greatly. With its rapid adjustment from category 2 to 4, it responds instantly to sunlight changes, offering effective protection in bright conditions. The brown colours improves depth perception while ensuring full UV protection. A versatile option ideal for skiers and snowboarders looking for high performance in all weathers.
Julbo Reactiv High Contrast: for bright or cloudy days
Reactiv 1–3:
- Photochromic lens (category 1 to 3)
- Works well in both poor and bright weather
Designed to handle all weather conditions, the Reactiv High Contrast lens adjusts from category 1 to 3, delivering crystal-clear vision in both overcast and sunny conditions. The brown colour enhances brightness and improves terrain detail perception — especially in poor visibility. Whether you're skiing in snow, fog or cloudy weather, this lens gives you confidence and clarity in all light levels.
Reactiv 0–4:
- Photochromic lens (category 0 to 4)
- Extremely wide photochromic range for any weather
The Julbo Reactiv High Contrast 0–4 photochromic lens is built for optimal vision in all light conditions. With its exceptionally wide range (category 0 to 4), it adapts quickly from total darkness to intense sunlight. The clear base enhances perceived brightness in low-light settings while still offering full protection in intense sun. Perfect for mountain skiers and snowboarders frequently facing shifting light conditions — this lens ensures sharp, precise vision at all times.
Julbo Reactiv Light Amplifier: for boosted brightness
- Photochromic lens (category 1 to 3)
- Enjoy the slopes in all conditions
The Julbo Reactiv Light Amplifier 1–3 photochromic lens is designed to enhance visibility and visual comfort on the slopes in all weather. Its 1–3 range adapts quickly to moderate light changes, offering the right level of protection while maintaining clarity. The yellow tint improves contrast and makes terrain contours easier to read — helping you react faster on snow-covered ground.
Julbo Reactiv Polarized: from one extreme to the other
- Photochromic lens (category 2 to 4)
- Polarised lens: eliminates glare for better terrain reading
The Reactiv Polarized lens combines photochromic technology (category 2 to 4) with polarisation to deliver top-tier performance in mountain settings. Polarisation eliminates glare — especially on snow and icy surfaces — allowing you to read terrain more clearly and anticipate obstacles on- or off-piste. The dark brown tint enhances contrast and provides full protection at high altitudes, while maintaining clarity even in shaded areas. Ideal for advanced skiers tackling extreme conditions, it ensures perfect vision all day long.
Julbo Reactiv Glare Control: ultimate visual comfort
Reactiv 2–3:
- Photochromic lens (category 2 to 3)
- ’Glare Control’ filter: reduces glare for better terrain visibility
The Reactiv Glare Control lens with photochromic tech (category 2 to 3) is perfect for skiers looking for premium visual comfort in variable light. The Glare Control filter reduces brightness and glare — particularly useful in direct sunlight or when snow reflects harshly. The orange shade boosts contrast, making terrain features clearer, even in flat light. It offers exceptional comfort so you can ski confidently in all visibility levels.
Reactiv 1–3:
- Photochromic lens (category 1 to 3)
- ’Glare Control’ filter: anti-glare for clearer terrain reading
The Julbo Reactiv Glare Control 1–3 photochromic lens offers outstanding protection for mountain sports. With its Glare Control filter, it effectively reduces glare, helping you read terrain more easily in changing light. The 1–3 range adapts to moderate brightness shifts, while the orange base enhances contrast and makes contours clearer.
Photochromic Reactiv lenses across men’s and women’s Julbo goggles
Julbo offers its Reactiv photochromic lenses in a wide selection of goggle models. You’ll find them in ranges like Aerospace, Lightyear and Razor Edge.
Julbo’s photochromic lens technology
All Julbo photochromic goggles are made using NXT technology — a cast-moulded process that allows the photochromic treatment to be embedded in the material itself. This NXT lens process is backed by a lifetime guarantee! In addition, Julbo lenses are treated with a water-repellent coating on the outer surface — helping snowflakes and water droplets slide off easily. The brand also applies a next-generation anti-fog coating to the inner lens for crystal-clear vision in all conditions.
The French brand will guide you just as confidently through the whiteout of a family ski resort as it would to the summit of Everest at 8848m.
Select the level of protection you need and the lens features you want — whether polarised, with Glare Control or standard — and enjoy perfect vision at all times!
