Why choose a Patagonia backpack?
Mountain enthusiasts are generally quite familiar with Patagonia, a brand established in the 1970s that first produced climbing accessories. It became known for its strong environmental commitment as early as the late 1980s, long before it became a trend. Patagonia has maintained this dedication, becoming a model of hope in the highly polluting textile industry. Guided by the goal of reducing its impact, the brand continues to develop increasingly technical products, including a complete range of backpacks suited for all mountain activities, such as the Snowdrifter for skiing or snowboarding, the Descensionist for mountaineering, and the Black Hole duffels for travel.
Eco-friendly backpack manufacturing
Like all the products it develops, Patagonia strives to reduce the environmental footprint of its backpack production. This includes using recycled fibres, such as recycled ripstop polyester certified by Bluesign, ensuring that chemicals, processes, materials, and products are safe for the environment, workers, and us as consumers.
Additionally, many of Patagonia's technical fabrics are treated with a DWR finish to repel water and protect against moisture. The issue with traditional water-repellent finishes used in the industry is that they often contain non-biodegradable chemicals harmful to the environment. Patagonia has worked to reduce their use, finding an effective and environmentally friendly alternative.
Different models for various activities
Patagonia offers backpacks designed for every type of outdoor and mountain sport. The brand develops specific models for skiing, snowboarding, ski touring, climbing, hiking, cycling, and even everyday use. At Glisshop, we offer a wide selection of backpacks with various capacities to suit your needs, as well as Patagonia bum bags to keep your essentials on hand.
