Dakine, a brand of legend!

It’s in the Pacific Ocean, on Hawaï, in 1979, that Dakine adventure began. Rob Kaplan, a passionate surfer builds himself a solid reputation among the locals. Known as a guy who knows how to use his hands, he designs one of the first surf leash that’s actually comfortable and adjustable. The surf crowd didn’t need more to get on its feet and clap with both hands. Every surfer come see him to get their board fitted. That’s when the brand’s name came up. Da Kine which meant “the kind, the best” in the local language. Dakine becomes synonym of efficiency, comfort and durability. In 1986, the brand moves to Mount Hood, Oregon, USA, and starts designing products related to other sports like snowboarding or skiing. Mount Hood is a resort open all year thanks to its glacier. This means the brand can work with riders continuously to design, innovate and test. That’s how Dakine products became so good.
