Originally known in 1999 under the name Newport Sandal, today KEEN is renowned as a hiking shoe, boot and sandal brand based in Portland Oregon. The company was founded in 2003 by Martin Keen and Rory Fuerst.

KEEN’s history: the hiking shoe and sandal specialist from Newport

The first KEEN sandals and shoes with a black toe rand came out of the factory in 2003. KEEN first found a niche market in sailing and other outdoor and water sports. KEEN then branched out with footwear lines with various styles, casual shoes for summer time and winter models, bags and clothes. KEEN also offers a full range of safety shoes such as the famous KEEN Utility Tacoma work boot.
