LOWA is a century old climbing shoe and hiking and mountaineering boot brand. The name LOWA is an acronym from of the first letters of the founder’s name: the German Lorenz WAgner. Genius inventor and passionate cobbler based north of Munich, he used to spend his time creating shoes. LOWA was first successful for its traditional Bavarian shoes in the mid 1920s. LOWA shoes were already high-quality, durable and timeless models. In the early 30s, LOWA developed mountain boots for Alpine Rangers and lace-up ski boots. The foundations were established.
