Lowa

A renowned footwear brand specialising in climbing, hiking and mountaineering, LOWA celebrated its centenary in 2023! The name LOWA is an acronym formed from the initials of its founder, the German LOrenz WAgner. A brilliant inventor and passionate shoemaker based north of Munich, he dedicated his life to developing innovative footwear designs. LOWA first found success in crafting traditional Bavarian shoes in the mid-1920s. Even then, LOWA boots were known for their exceptional quality, durability and timeless style. In the early 1930s, LOWA began producing mountain boots for alpine troops and lace-up ski boots, laying the foundation for its future expertise. Today, LOWA manufactures nearly three million pairs of shoes each year and exports to 75 countries. The brand is a market leader in mountain and trekking footwear across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Its iconic Renegade model has become the benchmark for hiking boots. The brand also offers other ranges such as the Lady Light, designed specifically for women, and the Ferrox.
