Movement

Movement Ski is a relatively new brand that was initially developed in 1980 with the aim of designing snowboards, later expanding to freeski models in the 1990s. However, it wasn't until 2002 that its ski range began to broaden significantly. With its unique style and a range that now includes other disciplines such as alpine skiing, ski touring, and freeride, Movement has successfully found its audience and established its place in the market. The brand also produces Movement ski touring boots.

Touring Ski Ranges

All-Round Touring: Session, Axess, and Logic

The Session range offers skis with waist widths ranging from 85 to 95 mm, perfect for exploring the entire resort. Built with titanal plates (except for the children’s model) and five axes of carbon fibre, these skis are powerful, robust, and lightweight, thanks to their wood core and carbon construction. Adventurers can conquer peaks with excellent skiability and reliable grip on the descent.

The Movement Axess touring skis come in 86 mm and 92 mm widths for men and 86 mm and 90 mm for women. With lightweight cores, fibreglass and carbon construction, double rocker, and a shorter radius, these touring skis are ideal for a recreational experience, offering maximum fun on both the climb and descent.

The Logic range from Movement Ski, designed for ski touring enthusiasts of all levels, features the Logic 86, an ideal entry-level ski with an 86 mm waist, ultra-light paulownia wood core, and triaxial fibreglass construction, ensuring easy manoeuvrability in any snow condition.

For those seeking more versatility, the Logic 91 offers a wider platform at 91 mm underfoot, with the same light and robust construction, providing stability and comfort on diverse snow types for more daring sessions. The Logic range also includes models specifically for women, such as the Logic 86 Women and Logic 91 Women. These skis, adapted for female skiers, feature a slightly forward mounting point for the bindings, retaining the key characteristics of lightness and versatility for a comfortable ski touring experience in any snow conditions.

These skis deliver high performance, allowing you to climb quickly and efficiently before enjoying the descent thanks to the titanal reinforcements that pack a punch. Precise and stable, the Race Pro skis are perfect for fast, challenging sessions.

Movement also offers ski touring boots with options for men, women, and even teens. These boots provide a 62° range of motion, allowing long strides when skinning.

The History of Swiss Brand Movement Ski

Before adopting its current name, the brand was founded as Wild Duck in 1980 by three friends, initially focusing on snowboards. Over the next two decades, Wild Duck expanded into Japan and North America, leaving a legacy of innovation. Alongside its snowboard venture, Movement Skis was created to join the freeskiing wave of the 1990s.

In 2000, the brand became known as Movement Skis, pioneering in freeride, freestyle, and touring. The Movement ski range began to evolve, with skis becoming wider, more playful, or lighter depending on the category. Research in carving led to innovations and bold choices that established Movement’s expertise and diverse offerings.

In a bid for independence, Movement acquired its own manufacturing plant, AST Ski Factory, in 2005. This gave the brand full control to continue its journey with enthusiasm and creativity. In 2015, the brand was acquired by Airsis, also the owner of Le Coq Sportif.

Skiers Who Joined the Movement

Movement has supported skiers of international reputation. Here’s an introduction to some of the riders who have been part of the brand’s team.

Aurélien Ducroz

The son of a Chamonix mountain guide and a ski instructor, Aurélien Ducroz is a passionate rider both on snow and on water. He began alpine skiing with promising results, quickly making it to the French national ski jumping team. He won three French junior championships before joining the World Cup at the age of 15. He later turned to freeride and became the vice-world champion of freeride in his early twenties. He continued to improve and, in 2015, achieved his fourth victory at the Xtreme Verbier! Since 2009, he has also pursued a professional sailing career.

Maxime Chabloz

Maxime Chabloz is an incredible Swiss rider, with a gift for extreme sports on both water and snow! A promising kitesurfer, he also excels in freeride. He became a world champion as a rookie at 20 and won three of the five stages in the Freeride World Tour, including the Xtreme Verbier.

Justin Blanchet-Nicoud

A promising young skier from La Clusaz, Justin Blanchet is a dedicated freerider with a passion for backcountry and big mountain skiing outside of competitions. This talented rider spent five years competing in the Junior Freeride World Tour before joining the Freeride World Tour Qualifier. When summer arrives, Justin has fun on his mountain bike!

Arnaud Gasser

Passionate about the mountains and endurance sports, Arnaud Gasser is an elite sprinter. He excels in ski mountaineering and is part of the Swiss team. A rising star, he is constantly training to stay at the top of his game.
