Odlo

Odlo was founded in 1946 by norwegian Odd Roar Lofterød Senior. This former cross-country ski champion had for motto: "always make sure you're one step ahead". He was known for being an innovative thinker and that's what made his brand famous. 

He began with knitting women's underwear before switching to another kind of clothing, inspired by his son who was at the time training with the norwegian skating team. In order to prevent him from freezing, he designed his first pants in Helanca fibres, offering a greater thermal insulation. 

In 1963, Helanca fibres were used again for making a warm and stretchable suit. This suit was soon to be picked by the national norwegian team for wearing at Innsbruck Olympics. 8 years later, 20 national teams wear Odlo suits during Sapporo Olympics. 

The first fully-synthetic sports underwear comes to life in 1973 under the name Odlo Termic.

It’s only in 1987 that the revolutionary concept of Athletic Clothing System is released. Based on a 3-layer structure, you get the underwear enhancing moisture wicking, the midlayer that helps regulate temperature and the outer layer acting as a rain and windstopper. Then in 1994, Odlo hits the running and outdoor industries making clothes with their ‘from the skin up’ principle in mind. The idea is to maximise athletes comfort and well-being to help them perform at their best.

In 2002, the groundbreaking technology Effect by Odlo fabric is unveiled. It integrates odour-reducing silver ions helping to reduce bad smells from sports clothing. Odlo also won an award for its 3D cubic construction in 2006. This ultra-light technology helps a better temperature regulation

More recently, Odlo keeps working on innovations to stay one step ahead. This includes seamless underwear, entirely recycled and recyclable, or the Muscle Force technology. This tech helps holding muscles in place and reduces vibrations, delaying muscular fatigue.
