Description

The Sum'Tec ice axe from Petzl stands out for its versatility. Suitable for both classic races and technical routes, it stands out for its modular design. Indeed, while it is supplied here with a panne and an Ice blade, it can be fitted with a hammer as well as Pur'Ice or Dry blades (sold separately), which are interchangeable. It can also be fitted with weights, also sold separately.

In the configuration offered here with the purlin, it proves particularly handy for clearing ice or setting up anchors in mixed terrain. As for the Ice blade, it easily penetrates all types of ice.

The Sum'Tec also benefits from the Trigrest support scale, which adjusts quickly and without tools. It allows the hand or index finger to be positioned on the curved handle, offering a secure and comfortable grip when pulling. Finally, the steel tip, located at the end of the handle, ensures solid support in pick-and-roll mode on snow-covered surfaces.
