The Tecnica ski boot ranges
Tecnica ski boots are split between models designed for resort skiing and models built to broaden your playground. The range name first indicates the intended use; boot volume and flex then help refine the choice.
Mach BOA
The Mach BOA range is designed for piste and all-mountain skiing. It comes in MV and HV: the former means an intermediate volume, the latter a roomier fit. On standard versions, a BOA dial replaces the lower shell buckles. It lets you progressively adjust how the foot is wrapped and distributes the tightening more evenly. The Mach BOA MV 120 Dual and MV 130 Dual feature a dual BOA, with a second dial at the cuff. The flex ratings available cover several levels of commitment: choose according to your build, technique and the level of power you want.
Mach1 LV TD2
The Mach1 LV TD2 prioritise a snug fit and precise handling. Their LV volume suits narrow feet as well as skiers looking for a more direct hold. T-Drive 2.0 technology links the cuff to the shell to promote smooth power transfer and applies only to references marked ‘TD2’. Also see the Tecnica Mach1 range to compare the models available.
Mach Sport
Mach Sport is aimed at piste and all-mountain skiing with a more accessible fit. The range includes a Mach Sport MV 75 W, with an intermediate volume and a forgiving flex, as well as a Mach Sport HV 100, which is roomier and more powerful. Volume and flex vary depending on the boot.
Cochise
Cochise is for those seeking versatility between freeride, resort skiing and ski touring. The models feature a ski/walk mode that frees up the cuff for the approach, as well as inserts compatible with the pin bindings.
LV, MV or HV: identifying the right volume Tecnica’s range
LV stands for low volume. It is particularly suitable for a narrow foot that still needs comfort, or for a very precise hold for medium-width feet.
MV means medium volume, suited to average foot shapes that prioritise comfort, or wider feet seeking more precision.
HV offers more room and is generally aimed at higher-volume feet or skiers who need extra comfort.
These reference points do not replace Mondopoint sizing or trying the boots on. Also take into account the width given in millimetres, heel hold and the boot’s overall volume. Two feet of the same length may require different volumes.
Piste or ski touring: choosing the right family
For mainly resort skiing, start by comparing Mach1, Mach BOA and Mach Sport. Mach1 focuses on precision, Mach BOA on dial adjustment and Mach Sport on a more progressive approach to piste and all-mountain skiing. Then choose the flex and volume that suit your foot and your ability.
If you alternate between descents, ungroomed snow and short approaches, Cochise is Tecnica’s most coherent family. Its walk mode and, on the relevant models, its combability with pin bindings provide the versatility expected for ski touring.
