Description

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The Capita Dark Horse is the approachable model in Capita’s freestyle line-up: a twin-tip built for the park and side hits, yet versatile enough to stay enjoyable across the whole resort. A board designed for riders who want to progress in freestyle without sacrificing their piste sessions.

What is the Capita Dark Horse snowboard designed for?

The Dark Horse is a freestyle-oriented all-mountain board: it is in its element in the park, on kickers and side hits, but it also handles the rest of the mountain without feeling sluggish. Its 100% twin-tip shape is perfectly symmetrical, meaning the board behaves exactly the same in regular and switch. The traditional camber delivers pop on take-off and precision on the edges. The construction includes carbon reinforcements and a bio-based resin (Special Blend Fiberglass Plant Based Evo Resin), produced in Capita’s Austrian factory powered by 100% renewable energy.

Who is the Capita Dark Horse snowboard for?

The Dark Horse is aimed at intermediate to advanced snowboarders looking to improve their freestyle skills while keeping a board capable of riding everything across the resort.

  • Riders who link park piste laps in the same day
  • Snowboarders working on switch tricks who want a symmetrical board
  • Anyone after a serious snowboard without blowing their budget

Go for it if you are looking for a versatile board to progress in freestyle.

Avoid it if you want a snowboard dedicated to powder and freeride.

What are the main strengths of the Capita Dark Horse snowboard?

Versatility

Pop

Switch performance

Is the Capita Dark Horse as comfortable in switch as it is in regular?

Yes: the 100% twin-tip shape means the board is perfectly symmetrical from nose to tail. You can ride switch exactly as you would regular, with no compromise.

Do the carbon reinforcements on the Dark Horse make it difficult to handle?

No: the carbon reinforcements are used here to improve responsiveness and pop without adding unnecessary weight. The flex remains moderate, making it accessible and comfortable to handle day to day.

Does the Capita Dark Horse construction use eco-conscious materials?

The board is made in Capita’s The MotherShip™ factory in Austria, powered by 100% renewable energy. The resin used in the fibreglass composite is bio-based (Plant Based Evo Resin).

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
