Product description — Mercury

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The CAPiTA Mercury is the all-mountain benchmark in the CAPiTA freeride line-up: a board built for riders who refuse to choose between groomers, off-piste terrain and the park. Season after season, it stands out as the one-board quiver for anyone who wants to do it all without compromise.

What is the Capita Mercury snowboard designed for?

The Mercury is an all-mountain board with a freeride bias: it feels at home across the whole resort, with a natural preference for powder and side hits. Its directional shape delivers greater efficiency through turns and better float than when riding switch. The hybrid profile, with camber underfoot, ensures strong edge hold and plenty of pop, while the rocker at the tips adds forgiveness when initiating turns and helps the nose rise out of deep snow. The board is made at The MotherShip™ in Austria, a factory powered entirely by renewable energy.

Who is the Capita Mercury snowboard for?

The Mercury is aimed at advanced to expert riders looking for a single board for the whole mountain, with no compromise on performance.

  • The rider who links off-piste runs and then comes back to carve groomers on the same day
  • The snowboarder who wants a deck that delivers in fresh snow without losing precision on hardpack
  • The rider who occasionally laps the park but whose main playground remains the mountain

Choose it if you want a demanding yet versatile board, capable of charging through everything from first lift to last lap.

Avoid it if you are a beginner or if your sessions are mainly spent in the park on big kickers and features.

What are the main strengths of the Capita Mercury snowboard?

Versatility

Edge hold

Float

Is the Capita Mercury effective in powder?

Yes: the rocker at the tips allows the nose to rise naturally in deep snow, making it easier to float without having to force all your weight onto the back foot. The directional shape further enhances this advantage.

Can you ride the Mercury switch?

The Mercury has a directional shape, with a clearly defined nose and tail: it is not designed for regular switch riding. It can handle occasional switch riding, but that is clearly not its strong point.

Does the Mercury perform equally well on groomers and off piste?

That is exactly where the hybrid profile makes the difference: the camber underfoot provides positive edge grip and solid stability on firm snow, while the rocker takes over as soon as the snow softens or you head beyond groomed runs.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
