Big sister to the Cool Bean, the K2 Special Effects is a snowboard specifically designed for powder. This short board invites you to perform playful slashes and carves. It is intended to be ridden between 4 and 10 cm shorter than your usual board.

What is the K2 Special Effects snowboard made for?

The Special Effects is the ultimate tool for powder and short backcountry runs. Its short, wide, and tapered shape, combined with a large swallow tail, flat camber, and pronounced nose rocker, makes it unique. The board offers excellent float in powder thanks to its very set-back stance. Turning has never been easier. Its Bambooyah core, reinforced with carbon and fibreglass, provides stiffness for more stability without being too demanding to handle. Powder will become your favourite playground!

Tips and advice

Size of your board?

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
