Product description — The Black Snowboard Of Death

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The Capita The Black Snowboard Of Death is a staple of the Capita catalog: a directional freeride board designed for serious off-piste riding, which has built a solid reputation season after season. If you’re looking for a board built to tackle steep slopes and powder without compromise, this is the one.

What is the Capita The Black Snowboard Of Death designed for?

The Capita The Black Snowboard Of Death is built for freeriding: off-piste, virgin snow, and challenging lines. The directional shape means the board has a clearly defined front and back, giving it natural turning behavior and great float in deep powder. The camber-plus-rocker profile combines central camber for precise control and solid grip on hard snow with rocker at the tips to make it easier to initiate turns and prevent you from sinking into the powder. This board is manufactured at The MotherShip™ in Austria, a production facility powered 100% by renewable energy.

Who is the Capita The Black Snowboard Of Death designed for?

The Capita The Black Snowboard Of Death is designed for advanced to expert snowboarders who want an uncompromising machine for freeriding.

  • Riders who are comfortable on steep terrain and really commit to their turns
  • Snowboarders who regularly ride off-piste and in powder

A top choice if you’re an advanced rider looking for a high-performance, demanding freeride board.

Avoid this if you’re a beginner or if you expect a board to be easy to handle and forgiving of mistakes.

Can you ride the Capita The Black Snowboard Of Death switch?

The Black Snowboard Of Death’s directional shape isn’t designed for switch riding: the front and back have very distinct roles, and the board doesn’t handle the same way in both directions.

How does this board perform on hard snow and groomed runs?

On groomed runs, the Black Snowboard Of Death delivers crisp edge hold and solid grip thanks to its central camber, which makes for precise turns even at high speeds.

Is the Black Snowboard Of Death also suitable for jibbing or kickers?

This board isn’t designed for park riding: its stiff flex and directional shape aren’t suited for it. If you regularly ride in the park, you’re better off checking out another model from the Capita catalog.

Tips and advice

Size of your board?

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
