Product description — The Matriarch

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The Capita The Matriarch is the riders’s freeride board from the CAPiTA line: a directional board built to tackle terrain that demands commitment, from steep couloirs to off-piste runs in fresh snow. It’s designed for experienced female snowboarders looking for a board that matches their ambitions.

What is the Capita The Matriarch snowboard designed for?

The Capita The Matriarch is designed for freeriding: off-piste, variable snow conditions, and challenging terrain at high speeds. Its directional shape makes it precise in turns and natural in powder, but less comfortable for riding switch. The profile uses traditional camber without an added rocker, and this is a men’s model aimed at male riders. The board is manufactured using 100% clean energy at The MotherShip™ factory in Austria, a production approach that CAPiTA applies to its entire lineup.

Who is the Capita The Matriarch snowboard designed for?

The Capita The Matriarch is designed for advanced to expert female snowboarders who want a board tailored for freeriding.

A top choice if you’re looking for a board that’s responsive, stable at speed, and designed for pure freeriding.

Avoid this board if you’re a beginner or if your typical session is in the snow park: this board isn’t made for freestyle.

Is the Capita The Matriarch suitable for riding switch?

No, and that’s by design: the Matriarch’s directional shape is optimized for riding in the standard direction, with a clearly defined front and back.

How does the Capita The Matriarch perform on hard snow?

This is where the board really shows what it’s made of: grip is very responsive on hard snow, with crisp edge hold that gives you the confidence to carve hard into turns. The stiff flex contributes to this precision.

Does the Capita The Matriarch perform well on groomed runs?

Yes, it’s at home on the slopes, offering real stability at high speeds on groomed snow.

Tips and advice

Size of your board?

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
