Description

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The K2 Gateway Pop snowboard is K2’s all-around freeride board. This directional board handles groomed runs, off-piste terrain, and fresh powder days without requiring competition-level maintenance.

What’s the K2 Gateway Pop snowboard all about?

The Gateway Pop is a versatile board: carving on groomed runs in the morning, hunting for fresh powder in the afternoon. Its directional shape, with a well-defined tip and tail, favors carving and powder riding over riding switch. Its hybrid camber combines camber underfoot for grip and pop with rocker at the tips for forgiveness and float. It maintains solid grip on hard snow, provides lift when planing, and the carbon reinforcement energizes your acceleration between turns.

Who is the K2 Gateway Pop snowboard designed for?

This board is designed for intermediate to advanced riders who want a single board for the entire mountain, from carving to all-day freeriding.

  • Carving and wide turns on the piste
  • Powder and accessible freeride
  • A single board for the entire season

A top choice if you’re looking for versatility without worrying about waxing, thanks to its low-maintenance extruded base.

Not recommended if you spend most of your time in the park and ride switch half the time.

Frequently Asked Questions About the K2 Gateway Pop Snowboard

Is the extruded base a bad choice?

No. It glides a little slower than a sintered base, but it’s forgiving if you forget to wax it and is easy to repair if it gets nicked.

Does the carbon reinforcement change the board’s performance?

Yes. It adds responsiveness underfoot and makes transitions from one turn to the next more lively.

What’s the difference between the Gateway Pop and the Embassy?

Two directional freeride boards with hybrid camber. The Gateway Pop, with its carbon reinforcement and extruded base, is the easiest to handle; the Embassy features a faster sintered base and has a more demanding character.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
