Julbo sunglasses
Julbo was founded in 1888 in Morez, the birthplace of French eyewear industry. It was a resident of the Jura region who launched this brand, which was not yet called Julbo at the time, but almost... for his name was Jules Baud. His activity began with the creation of prescription glasses with a single idea in mind: innovation. Then, at the request of the Chamonix crystal miners concerned about protecting their eyes at high-altitude, Jules Baud designed the first "Cristalliers" glasses, marking the beginning of sunglasses for the company.

Reactiv: Julbo photochromic lenses
Julbo photochromic sunglasses are fitted with Reactiv lenses. Julbo Reactiv sunglasses automatically darken or lighten according to ambient light levels. A single pair is therefore all you need from dawn to bright sunshine. The range includes different tint ranges for specific uses:
Reactiv 0-3 and 1-3: from almost clear to category 3, ideal for road cycling, mountain biking and trail running, particularly on routes with frequent transitions through woodland. High Contrast versions enhance terrain definition, while Light Amplifier models improve vision in low-light conditions.
Reactiv 0-4: the widest tint range, from virtually transparent to category 4, for outings that begin at dawn and finish at altitude.
Reactiv 2-4 and Reactiv High Mountain: designed for high-altitude terrain, ski touring and mountaineering, these lenses reach category 4 to cope with glare reflected by the snow. Reactiv Glare Control: photochromic lenses with glare reduction, developed for watersports and highly reflective surfaces.
Good to know: you may recognise these lenses by their former names. Zebra and Zebra Light, Cameleon and Octopus are now all part of the Reactiv family.
Spectron: category 3 and 4 sun lenses
For a fixed tint, Julbo offers Spectron lenses. Spectron 3 sunglasses are ideal for everyday use and perfect for bright summer days, whether around town or out hiking. Category 4 Spectron 4 lenses provide maximum protection on glaciers and at very high altitude, but must not be used for driving. Spectron HD versions enhance contrast, while selected models are also available with polarised lenses to cut glare.
Julbo glacier sunglasses: protection for high-altitude environments

Julbo offers a comprehensive range of Julbo children's sunglasses, combining durability and comfort with complete UV protection. The Loop models, which replaced the Looping range, feature hinge-free arms and can be worn either way up, making them a genuinely practical solution for younger children. Headband models are also available for babies and toddlers.

How do you choose the right Julbo sunglasses?
Start by considering your activity and the light conditions you are likely to encounter. For town use, hiking and summer holidays, Spectron 3 lenses are sufficient. For road cycling, mountain biking and trail running, where you frequently move between shade and sunshine, Reactiv 0-3 or 1-3 lenses offer the greatest comfort. For high-altitude mountaineering, ski touring and alpine climbing, choose Reactiv 2-4, Reactiv High Mountain or Spectron 4 lenses, ideally fitted to a glacier frame. Finally, consider the shape: a wraparound design provides better protection from wind and peripheral light, while a more conventional frame is easy to wear every day.
