Description

The It Band Sport from Thuasne is placed on the knee to provide maximum protection against iliotibial band syndrome, more commonly known as 'windshield wiper syndrome' in the running world. This is the 2nd most common injury among runners. It can be very disabling. With each stride, the lower part of the tensor fascia lata moves back and forth like a windshield wiper and, in some cases, catches the head of the femur on the outside of the knee. The irritation caused by this conflict, repeated an average of 180 times per minute while running, is the cause of this syndrome. The pain generally appears after 15 minutes in the form of a burning sensation, then disappears as soon as you stop. It is extremely rare that the practice of other sports triggers these symptoms. This band, once in place on the knee, allows stabilizing the tendons to avoid the occurrence of these pains as much as possible.
