It actually replaces the old Starlet and is intended to be simpler to use, while being sturdier and more reliable in terms of its ski/walking system. It features a new tightening system on the instep with a hook that locks the entire front very evenly for optimum comfort and good support distribution. The Stellar also features a Grilamid stem, which brings a significant weight saving to 1050g in the 24.5 range, compared with 1120g for the old Starlet. And, of course, it retains multi-binding compatibility for Tour, TRAB TR2 and Low Tech.
