Which Dynastar ski should you choose: Speed, M-Cross, M-Pro or M-Free?
Choosing a Dynastar ski starts with a question of terrain and feel. To work on your turns on groomed snow, look at the Speed and Elite ranges. To keep some freedom when the snow conditions change, compare the M-Cross models. If your outings leave more room for off-piste, the M-Pro and M-Free deserve your attention: their different constructions and shapes cater to distinct styles of skiing. Here are the key points to help you choose between the models in our selection.
Speed and Elite: from leisure piste skiing to sporty turns
The Speed family covers several levels of commitment. The Speed 350 Xpress, classified as leisure piste, is suitable for intermediate to advanced skiers. The Speed 650 Konect is aimed at advanced to expert skiers looking for greater performance on groomed snow. For a more race-orientated ride, the Speed Omeglass Master SL Konect favours short turns, while the Speed Course Master GS Konect encourages longer arcs.
The women's selection includes, in particular, the Elite 5 Xpress and Elite 9 Konect. The former is ideal for intermediate to advanced female skiers on piste; the latter is aimed at advanced to expert skiers and features an Omega Ti reinforcement in its construction. The choice therefore depends as much on how hard you drive the ski as on your desire to work on carving.
M-Cross: keeping piste very much in play
The Dynastar M-Cross range is well worth exploring if your days combine groomed runs with sections of softer or more worked snow. The M-Cross 82 and M-Cross 88 are both classified as all mountain for intermediate to advanced skiers. Their traditional camber combined with a double rocker allows you to blend edge grip with easy pivoting. The 82 stays closer to a piste-orientated feel; the 88 offers more surface area for ventures into softer snow.
M-Pro and M-Free: two approaches to natural terrain
In the Dynastar M-Pro range, the M-Pro 94 Ti and M-Pro 100 Ti are aimed at advanced to expert skiers. Their construction incorporates Rocket Frame Ti reinforcement and a directional shape. The 94 Ti retains an all mountain programme, whereas the 100 Ti is classified as freeride: a useful distinction when deciding how much emphasis you want to place on off-piste.
The Dynastar M-Free opens up another route, focused on backcountry and making the most of natural features. The M-Free 100, with twin tips, suits skiers who want to add a freestyle dimension to their outings. The M-Free 108 gives more scope for deep snow. These two models require an advanced to expert level: their playful character does not mean they are designed for learning.
