Blizzard Anomaly

From 84 to 102 mm at the waist, the Blizzard Anomaly line progressively shifts its focus from a strongly piste-orientated set-up towards freeride. The Anomaly 84 favours quick edge-to-edge transitions, the 88 expands its remit to chopped-up snow and piste edges, the 94 adds more support off groomed runs, while the 102 combines the widest waist with a Trueblend Free Woodcore. The models are available on their own or as Blizzard ski packs with bindings.

Blizzard Anomaly 84, 88, 94 or 102: which model should you choose?

All four models are aimed at advanced to expert skiers. At the same 182 cm length, waist width increases from 84 to 102 mm and the turn radius grows from 17 to 19.5 m. The Anomaly 84, 88 and 94 all retain a Trueblend All Mountain Woodcore. The Anomaly 102 stands out with a Trueblend Free Woodcore and a more pronounced freeride brief.

The same titanal construction, but a different core on the Anomaly 102

The Anomaly 84, 88 and 94 use the Trueblend All Mountain Woodcore. This core combines different wood densities to keep a stiffer centre section and progressively softer tips and tails. This layout is designed to maintain support underfoot while making turn initiation and release easier.

The Anomaly 102 uses a Trueblend Free Woodcore combining beech, poplar and paulownia. This construction, specific to the widest model, confirms its freeride orientation: the 102 is therefore not simply an Anomaly 94 with an extra eight millimetres underfoot added by Blizzard.

All four 2027 Anomaly skis feature a 2Ti FluxForm All Mountain construction. Four separate pieces of titanal are distributed around the core to strengthen the ski without resorting to a full-width metal sheet. The All Conditions Rocker profile combines a progressive rise in the tip and tail with 6 mm of camber underfoot. The camber provides a solid contact zone on hard snow, while the rockers aid turn entry and pivoting in uneven snow.

From 84 to 102: how does the range evolve?

The progression of the Blizzard Anomaly 2027 range is not based solely on waist width. The Anomaly 84, 88 and 94 share the Trueblend All Mountain Woodcore, whereas the Anomaly 102 adopts a core construction tailored to its freeride purpose.

Blizzard Anomaly 84: piste first

The Anomaly 84 is the narrowest model in the series and the one that feels closest to a piste ski.

  • Waist width: 84 mm.

  • Construction: Trueblend All Mountain Woodcore and 2Ti FluxForm All Mountain reinforcement.

  • Preferred terrain: groomed runs, bumps, piste edges and spring snow.

  • Key feature: more immediate edge-to-edge transitions than the Anomaly 88, 94 and 102.

  • Limitation: less support than the wider models when snow depth increases.

Blizzard Anomaly 88: keep the piste, broaden the terrain

The Anomaly 88 remains well suited to regular piste use, while offering more platform in soft or uneven snow.

  • Waist width: 88 mm.

  • Construction: Trueblend All Mountain Woodcore and 2Ti FluxForm All Mountain reinforcement.

  • Preferred terrain: piste, bumps, piste edges and lightly ungroomed areas.

  • Key feature: a midway point between the responsiveness of the 84 and the support of the 94.

  • Limitation: slightly less immediate edge-to-edge than the Anomaly 84.

Blizzard Anomaly 94: more room for off-piste

The Anomaly 94 is still classed as all-mountain, but its 94 mm waist improves its performance in variable snow and on more regular excursions away from groomed runs.

  • Waist width: 94 mm.

  • Construction: Trueblend All Mountain Woodcore and 2Ti FluxForm All Mountain reinforcement.

  • Preferred terrain: piste, piste edges, trees, chopped-up snow and shallow fresh snow.

  • Key feature: a pivot model between the piste-led Anomalys and the freeride-oriented Anomaly 102.

  • Limitation: slower edge changes than the Anomaly 84 and 88.

Blizzard Anomaly 102: a clearly freeride-focused ski

The Anomaly 102 is the widest model in the collection and the only one to use a Trueblend Free Woodcore.

  • Waist width: 102 mm.

  • Construction: Trueblend Free Woodcore combining beech, poplar and paulownia, with 2Ti FluxForm All Mountain reinforcement.

  • Preferred terrain: off-piste, fresh snow, chopped snow and open terrain.

  • Key feature: prioritises flotation and ungroomed snow.

  • Limitation: a wider platform makes edge changes and short linked turns on piste more demanding.

Anomaly 84 or 88: stay close to the piste or gain more support?

The Anomaly 84 is the best choice for a skier who spends most of their time on piste and wants direct edge changes. The Anomaly 88 still has a measured width on hard snow, but offers more platform in soft, chopped-up or shallow snow. The recommended level remains the same: the decision mainly depends on the terrain you ski most and how much time you spend off groomed runs.

Anomaly 88 or 94: how much off-piste should you allow for?

The Anomaly 88 suits a style of skiing still mainly centred on piste, with occasional forays into nearby terrain. The Anomaly 94 becomes the more appropriate option when ungroomed sections regularly take up part of the day. The 88 retains the edge in quick transitions; the 94 brings more surface area in soft and uneven snow.

Anomaly 94 or 102: wide all-mountain or freeride?

The Anomaly 94 remains built around the Trueblend All Mountain Woodcore and keeps a brief split between piste and off-piste. The Anomaly 102 adopts the Trueblend Free Woodcore, adds eight millimetres at the waist and takes a freeride approach. The 94 is more at home when varying terrain throughout a day at the resort; the 102 is aimed at skiers who clearly prioritise ungroomed snow.
