Fischer - Ranger

The Fischer Ranger range is aimed at skiers looking for versatility, performance and freedom on all terrains. Designed for all-mountain, freeride and ski touring use, Ranger skis are built to perform just as well on piste and hardpack as they do in powder. Available in several waist widths and constructions, the range lets you choose a ski suited to your skiing style and ability level. The Ranger Pink and Sand are the most approachable models, while the Ranger 84, 90, 96 and 102 gradually evolve from a piste-like character towards a more off-piste and freeride-oriented feel.

Ranger Pink, Sand or numbered models: two constructions to distinguish

The Fischer Ranger Pink and Ranger Sand combine a Sandwich Sidewall construction with a poplar core and Fiber Tech reinforcement. Their profile features a central camber with rocker in the tip and tail. This construction places them in an approachable all-mountain category, intended for alternating between piste, piste edges and softer snow without aiming for the level of support offered by the wider numbered models.

The Ranger 90, 96 and 102 also use a sandwich construction, but benefit from Shaped Ti titanal reinforcement. The Flex Cut found on these models is a cut-out in the reinforcement, with the shape varying depending on the ski. The difference between the Rangers therefore does not rest solely on width: the reinforcement and overall sizing also contribute to their level of demand and intended use.

The Ranger 90, the all-mountain entry point in the range

The Fischer Ranger 90 offers a good balance between piste performance and versatility away from the slopes. Its waist remains narrow enough to preserve responsiveness on groomed snow, while adding more ease on the piste edges and in less consistent conditions.

Its Shaped Ti reinforcement, combined with the Flex Cut, helps deliver a ski that is at once stable, easy to handle and versatile. The Ranger 90 is therefore an excellent option for skiers who want to gradually move away from a mainly piste-based style of skiing and explore more fresh-snow terrain.

The Ranger 96 marks the move towards a more demanding all-mountain ski

At 96 mm underfoot in its reference size, the Fischer Ranger 96 requires more effort for edge-to-edge transitions than a Ranger 84 or 90. In return, its width and double rocker give it more surface area and easier pivoting when the snow becomes soft or uneven.

Its beech-poplar core and Shaped Ti reinforcement clearly set it apart from the Ranger Pink and Sand with their Fiber Tech construction. This model is aimed at advanced to expert skiers: it is better suited to a skier able to drive the ski than to someone looking purely for forgiveness.

The Ranger 102 favours freeride rather than speed on piste

The Fischer Ranger 102 is the widest model. This width increases the platform in fresh snow but naturally slows down transitions from one edge to the other.

The Fischer Ranger 102 is a freeride ski, designed primarily for off-piste use while still remaining capable on groomers. It is therefore aimed first and foremost at advanced or expert skiers who spend a significant part of their day away from groomed runs, while still needing to ski back to the lifts on designated trails.

The Ranger Pink and Ranger Sand are accessible Ranger variants

The Pink and Sand names mainly refer to colour variants of the unnumbered Ranger. Their construction combines a poplar core with Fiber Tech reinforcement, without the Shaped Ti reinforcement found on the Ranger 90, 96 and 102.

Feedback after testing the Ranger Pink

After ten days of testing, this ski proved to be light, manoeuvrable and confidence-inspiring. It makes edge-to-edge transitions easy, grips well on hard snow and remains stable when the terrain becomes more demanding. A model suited to intermediate skiers who want to improve their carving and build confidence.
