Ski boots
We understand that choosing from the hundreds of models we offer can be difficult. That is why we have developed a search tool to help you narrow down the selection according to your criteria. Start by specifying whether you are looking for men's ski boots, women's ski boots or children's ski boots. Then consider the length and width of your feet, your ability level, build and skiing style. Beginners will generally favour a softer, more forgiving boot. Advanced and expert skiers can opt for greater stiffness to gain support and precision, while intermediate skiers should look for a balance between forgiveness and support. The internal volume, flex, buckle system, ski/walk mode and BOA closure can then be used to refine your selection. Explore our extensive range now, including the new collection.

Ski boot buying guide
Which ski boots should you choose?
Ski boots are the interface between your feet and your skis. They play an essential role in holding the foot securely, transferring power and providing thermal comfort. Your choice should therefore take into account your foot shape, ability level, build and skiing discipline.
Criteria to consider
1 - Ski boot size: which size should you choose?
Ski boot sizes are expressed in Mondopoint and correspond to foot length in centimetres. Measure both feet and use the length of the larger one. Do not automatically go up a size for greater comfort: an oversized boot provides less secure foot hold and loses precision as the liner packs out. When standing upright, your toes may lightly brush the front of the liner. When you flex your knees, your heel should move back and this contact should disappear, without any pronounced pressure points.
2 - Ski boot width
Manufacturers offer shells in a variety of shapes and widths to meet the needs of skiers with wide feet as well as those with narrow feet. Forefoot width, often referred to as the last, is a useful initial reference, but it does not describe the boot's entire internal volume: instep height, heel hold and ankle shape are also important. Models with a 102 to 104 mm last, or even a 104 to 106 mm last, are generally designed for wide or high-volume feet. These measurements are only indicative, as fit varies between brands, ranges and sizes.
3 - Which flex rating should you choose?
The flex rating indicates how stiff the boot is when flexed forwards. A moderate flex makes it easier to pressure the skis and offers greater forgiveness. A higher flex provides more support and precision, provided the skier can flex the boot correctly. The right choice depends not only on ability level, but also on weight, power, ankle mobility and skiing discipline. As flex ratings are not standardised, two boots with the same stated flex may have different levels of stiffness depending on the brand.
4 - The liner
The construction and density of the foams affect comfort, support and precision. A heat-mouldable liner can be heated in accordance with the manufacturer's specified procedure so that it conforms more closely to the shape of the foot. Not all liners are heat moulded in the same way, and this process cannot correct a significant sizing or volume mismatch.
5 - Buckles and BOA closure
Ski boots may use buckles, a BOA closure system or a combination of both. Buckles often feature micro-adjustment to fine-tune tension and, on some models, macro-adjustment to provide an additional adjustment range. The BOA system uses a dial and cable to distribute pressure across the relevant area. Whatever the closure system, you should not need to tighten it fully to secure your foot: if you do, the boot is probably too high-volume.
Additional features
Some boots allow you to adjust the flex or feature a ski/walk mode that releases the cuff to make walking easier. However, the presence of a walk mode does not necessarily mean that the boot is compatible with pin touring bindings. Other models use soles designed to make walking easier or include features intended to improve thermal comfort, such as heated ski boots.
Rossignol, Salomon, Lange, Head, Atomic, Nordica...: how do you choose between brands?
Your ski boots do not need to be made by the same brand as your skis. Your decision should be based primarily on foot shape, boot volume, flex and intended use. However, the boot sole must be compatible with your bindings. Alpine, GripWalk and touring soles are not accepted by all bindings: check the specifications shown on both pieces of equipment or seek advice from a professional.
Leading brands now offer ranges covering multiple ability levels, boot volumes and skiing disciplines. These include Salomon, Rossignol, Nordica, Lange, Head, Atomic, Tecnica, Fischer, K2 and Dalbello. However, each brand does not have a single, uniform fit: shape and volume can vary considerably from one range to another. It is therefore best to compare the specifications of each model rather than choosing solely according to habit or the brand of your skis.
Advice from Glisshop
Which ski boot model should you choose?
Choose a model suited to your preferred discipline: alpine ski boots, freeski boots or freetouring ski boots. However, start by selecting a shell that matches the length and volume of your foot. The intended use, flex and features can then help narrow down your choice. If you are unsure between several fits, contact our experts.
How should you check the fit of your boots?
Put the boot on with a single ski sock, progressively fasten the closure system, then stand upright with your knees flexed. Your heel should remain firmly seated at the back of the boot and your toes should no longer press against the front of the liner. The pressure should be even and secure, without pain, numbness or pronounced pressure points. The cuff should support the lower leg without restricting circulation. Do not try to compensate for an oversized boot by overtightening the buckles, BOA system or power strap.
The importance of good ski socks
Ski socks help provide comfort and manage moisture. One thin or midweight pair is generally sufficient. Wearing several pairs of thick socks reduces the available space inside the boot, promotes pressure points and may restrict blood flow. When trying on ski boots, use socks similar to those you will wear on the slopes.
Choosing a heat-mouldable liner
A heat-mouldable liner allows the fit around the foot to be fine-tuned when heated in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. The density and construction of the foams affect support, durability and customisation options. Heat moulding should be carried out using the appropriate equipment and temperatures, preferably by a professional. It improves the fit of a correctly selected boot but cannot compensate for a shell that is too large or unsuitable for the shape of your foot.
Glisshop also offers a wide selection of ski boot accessories, as well as a comprehensive range of skiing equipment.
