How do you choose a children’s ski pack with bindings?

A children’s ski pack includes a pair of skis and bindings. To choose the right set, take account of your child’s height and weight, their current ability and the way they ski. Age alone is not enough to determine the right kit: two children of the same age can have very different needs.

Accessible skis for learning and progressing

For the first runs, favour skis that are easy to handle and supple enough for your child’s build. A piste-oriented, learning-focused model makes it easier to get to grips with skiing and work on turns. As their technique improves, a ski with a bit more edge hold can support them without becoming too demanding. The aim is to choose kit they can control right away.

A set-up suited to their favourite terrain

If your child mainly skis on groomed runs, steer the choice towards a piste model or an all-round ski suited to their level. For snowpark riding, freestyle skis, often twin-tip, meet specific needs.

What ski length should you choose for a child or junior?

Length affects how easy skis are to manoeuvre and how stable they feel. For piste or recreational all-round use, a length of around 10 to 15 cm below the child’s height is a useful starting point for beginners. Once they have mastered the basics, skis around 5 to 10 cm below their height may be suitable. These guidelines should be adjusted according to their weight, the model selected and how they ski.

Avoid choosing skis that are too long simply to allow for growth: they could make turning harder and slow down learning. Find the detailed guidance in our guide to choosing the correct ski length for children.

Browse our children’s ski packs by brand

Looking for a particular brand? Go straight to its junior packs to compare the available models and lengths:

Within the same brand, skis may be aimed at different abilities and disciplines. Use the features of each pack to help you compare the models.

How do you choose the bindings for a junior ski pack?

The bindings must be compatible with your child’s skis and boots. Their adjustment range must also match their profile. When ordering, enter the requested details accurately in the mounting form so the set can be prepared correctly.

If you are unsure about the bindings or their compatibility with the boots, our advisers can help. Changing boots means checking the compatibility and binding settings again.

How do you put together a complete set with children’s ski boots?

To choose your child’s skis, bindings and boots, go to our Ski Pack Selector. Start by selecting the skis on their own, then build your kit with the appropriate bindings and boots. You benefit from a preferential price from two items in your personalised pack.
