What is a MIPS ski helmet?
MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) relies on a thin low-friction layer placed between the helmet’s protective foam and your head.
During a collision, this layer allows a slight movement of 10 to 15 mm, which mimics the brain’s natural protective mechanism.
In the event of a fall, a helmet almost never hits the ground vertically: oblique impacts generate rotational forces that can be dangerous for the brain.
Thanks to MIPS, the outer shell can slide slightly, significantly reducing these rotational forces transmitted to the skull.
This technology adds only 25 to 45 grams, providing significantly enhanced protection against head trauma.
