Atomic Redster: the performance range for piste skiing

The Atomic Redster range is aimed above all at skiers looking for precision, edge grip and stability on groomed snow. Inspired by skis developed for racing, Redster models use stiff, responsive constructions to transmit pressure efficiently and maintain strong snow contact as speed increases.

The collection is not limited to the most demanding skis, however. Atomic splits the Redster line into several families to suit different skiing styles, from slalom to long-radius turns, with more accessible models for skiers who want a sporty feel without using a full race ski.

What are the different Atomic Redster skis?

Each Redster family is designed for a specific purpose. The choice mainly depends on the desired turn radius, the skier’s technical ability and how committed they are on piste.

Atomic Redster S: for short turns and slalom

The Atomic Redster S skis are designed for skiers who enjoy linking quick, short turns. Their tight radius, strong edge hold and high responsiveness make it easy to move rapidly from one edge to the other.

These skis require precise pressure control and active steering. They are particularly well suited to advanced and expert skiers looking for a slalom-like feel on groomed pistes.

Atomic Redster G: for long-radius turns

The Atomic Redster G prioritise stability, length and precision in long sweeping arcs. Their longer radius makes them less lively at low speed, but allows them to hold a stable line when the pace picks up.

They are aimed at advanced to expert skiers who like to build speed, maintain strong edge pressure and make full use of the width of the piste.

Atomic Redster X: the compromise between slalom and giant slalom

The Atomic Redster X range sits between the S and G models. It makes it easier to vary turn length while maintaining precise, dynamic performance.

More versatile than skis geared strictly towards slalom or giant slalom, the Redster X suits sporty skiers who want to switch between short turns, medium arcs and longer lines over the course of a day.

Atomic Redster Q: for varied piste conditions

The Atomic Redster Q skis use a wider shape and a more versatile construction than the other models in the range. They remain piste-focused, but the extra width provides greater stability when the snow becomes soft, uneven or spring-like.

They are a relevant option for advanced skiers looking for a high-performance ski without being limited to perfectly groomed early-morning pistes.

How do you choose your Atomic Redster ski?

The best model is not necessarily the stiffest or the most premium. A ski that is too demanding can slow progression, cause fatigue quickly and make turns harder to control.

  • To link short turns: go for an Atomic Redster S.

  • To ski fast in long arcs: choose an Atomic Redster G.

  • To vary turn radius: opt for an Atomic Redster X.

  • To stay efficient on less consistent snow: choose an Atomic Redster Q.

Intermediate skiers should prioritise the most accessible versions in each series. The stiffest models, especially those close to race constructions, require solid technique and powerful edge pressure.

What technologies are used in Atomic Redster skis?

Atomic uses different technologies depending on the model and its performance level. Their main aim is to improve stability, pressure transmission and rebound out of the turn.

Revoshock: damping vibrations without deadening the ski

Found on selected Redster models, Revoshock technology combines spring steel modules with elastomer elements. This system helps absorb vibrations caused by speed or irregularities in the piste.

Unlike a simple damping device, Revoshock also aims to return energy as the ski flexes. It therefore helps stabilise the ride while preserving a dynamic feel when exiting the turn.

Power Woodcore and Titanal reinforcements

The wood core provides a balance of stiffness, stability and liveliness. On the highest-performance models, it is combined with Titanal layers to increase precision and torsional strength.

This construction improves the ski’s hold when pressure becomes powerful, but it also makes it more demanding. The most heavily reinforced versions are therefore less suited to skiers primarily looking for forgiveness.

Carbon Boost: more rebound out of the turn

Some Redster skis feature carbon reinforcements in the tail area. Their role is to increase energy return and deliver extra rebound as the skier finishes the turn.

What skier level is the Redster range aimed at?

Most Atomic Redster skis are designed for strong intermediate, advanced or expert skiers. Their edge grip, stiffness and precision generally require more technique than recreational piste skis.

An intermediate skier can nevertheless choose a Redster in a more forgiving version, particularly within the X or Q families. The highest-performance S and G models, on the other hand, are intended for skiers able to maintain speed and load the edges hard.

Atomic Redster G9 Revoshock S Alpine Ski: test feedback

The Redster G9 Revoshock S is described as a benchmark for long-radius turns, with excellent stability at high speed. Its behaviour is particularly appreciated for a long-radius piste ski, offering precision and reassurance.

Atomic Redster helmets for ski racing

Atomic also extends the Redster range with helmets designed for speed and competition. Some models are FIS approved and meet the standards required for alpine ski events.

Depending on the version, they may be compatible with a chin guard for slalom skiing. The Fidlock magnetic chinstrap buckle makes the helmet easy to open and close, even with gloves on.

Certification alone is not enough to guarantee good protection, however. The helmet must be properly adjusted, remain stable on the head and not create any pressure points.

After extended wear, the Atomic Redster helmet is considered very comfortable and pleasant, with a good overall feel in use.

Atomic Redster in Nordic skiing

The Redster range also includes cross-country ski equipment aimed at sporty skating and classic skiing. Atomic applies the same focus on lightness, precision and efficiency as it does to its alpine skis.

Redster Nordic skis are aimed at regular cross-country skiers and racers who want to optimise glide and power transmission. The range also includes specific boots for skating and classic skiing.

After use, the Atomic Redster S7 offers a rather snug fit in the forefoot, which may suit narrower feet better. Comfort perception depends heavily on foot shape, with the feel remaining personal according to metatarsal width.
