Men’s and women’s backpacking packs and trekking rucksacks

50L models are designed to offer an excellent balance between pack weight and capacity. They allow you to carry clothing, sleeping gear and food while remaining comfortable, even on demanding trails. The backpacks available at Glisshop feature functional details such as:

  • A spacious main compartment for organised storage.
  • Side pockets and hip belt pockets for quick access to small items.
  • Compatibility with hydration systems.
  • Compression straps to stabilise the load.

These packs are available for both men and women, with back panels tailored to body shape and ergonomically designed shoulder straps.

For example, on a 5-day trek, a well-fitted 50L pack allows you to comfortably distribute around 12 kg of gear without discomfort on long ascents.

Best hiking backpack brands: Osprey, Vaude, Deuter...

Glisshop offers the most reliable brands on the market, renowned for their durability and comfort. You’ll find high-performance models from:

  • Osprey
  • Deuter
  • Vaude
  • Millet
  • Gregory
  • and many more leading brands

Each manufacturer offers designs suited to multi-day hikes and self-supported treks.

Ultralight and comfortable rucksacks

For enthusiasts of fast hiking and minimalist adventures, 50L ultralight backpacks are an ideal choice. Their streamlined construction reduces the pack weight without compromising ruggedness. Some models remain lightweight while still providing a generous capacity and excellent comfort.

During a 4-day summer traverse in the Pennines, an ultralight pack allows you to cover more distance each day while reducing fatigue.

For different needs, also explore our 40-litre hiking backpacks for shorter outings or our 60-litre backpacks for extended backpacking trips.

FAQ

Can a 50L backpack be taken as cabin luggage?

Most 50L backpacks exceed the size limits for cabin baggage and must therefore be checked in. For air travel, opt for a 35 to 40L model for carry-on use.

What is the ideal weight for a hiking backpack?

The empty pack weight varies depending on the model, generally between 1.2 and 2 kg. When loaded, it should not exceed 20% of your body weight for optimum comfort.

What capacity should I choose for a hiking backpack?

For a day hike, a 20 to 30L pack is sufficient. For multi-day treks, choose a model between 40 and 60L depending on your level of self-sufficiency.

How much can you fit in a 50L backpack?

A 50L pack offers enough capacity to carry a tent, sleeping bag, clothing and food for 3 to 5 days of adventure, maintaining a good balance between volume and carrying comfort.
