The Aircontact Lite 50+10 and Aircontact Lite 40+10 are two hiking backpacks that look very similar, making them hard to distinguish. The former weighs 1.64 kg, while the latter is slightly lighter at 1.59 kg—a difference of just 50 g. They are also nearly identical in height, differing by only 3 cm.

Both backpacks feature the VariQuick system, which enables to adjust the back length to ensure optimal lumbar and back comfort. Both are equipped with an X-frame that helps distribute weight more effectively. They also include hip belts with stabilizers to transfer the load to the hips instead of the shoulders. Additionally, load adjustment straps above the shoulder straps bring the backpack closer to the shoulder blades for stability once secured on the back.

The main difference lies in their storage capacity, which is adjustable. However, distinguishing between the two at first glance can be challenging since one has a capacity of 50+10 litres and the other 40+10 litres.

Both Aircontact Lite backpacks are suitable for long hikes, mountaineering, trekking, and even travel. They are ideal for hikers aiming to minimize the amount of gear they carry, while their additional 10-liter capacity allows for adjustable packing.

Despite differences in storage capacity, these two backpacks demonstrate their versatility, serving equally well for short to medium-distance hikes.

Even when fully loaded, it remains comfortable to carry, with the weight resting on your hips rather than your shoulders, thanks to its hip belt. Once properly adjusted to your body, it feels stable, even on steep descents. A reliable companion on the trails, it keeps your gear secure with compression straps accessible from the outside. The removable top lid, which adds 5 litres of capacity, can be detached when not needed, reducing the pack’s weight during fast ascents.

Differences Between Men’s and Women’s Models

Women’s hiking backpacks and men’s backpacks in the Deuter Aircontact range are tailored to suit each gender’s anatomy.

Within each Deuter backpack category, there’s an SL series (Special Lady). These women-specific models typically have slightly smaller capacities, shorter back panels, and narrower S-shaped shoulder straps. The hip stabilizers are conically shaped to better fit the hips. Everything is designed to enhance carrying comfort.

Men’s models, on the other hand, feature slightly larger capacities and longer back panels. However, functionality-wise, Deuter’s men’s and women’s backpacks are similar. They differ mainly in size, back length, volume, strap width and curvature, hip belt shape, and weight.

For example, the Deuter Aircontact 35+10 SL is the women’s version of the Deuter Aircontact 40+10. Both offer adjustable storage capacities: 45 litres maximum for the women’s version and 50 litres maximum for the men’s version.
