Edelrid

The German climbing brand Edelrid is anything but new to the game! The story began in 1863 with Julius EDELmann and Carl RIDder. One was a trader and mountaineer, the other a technician specialising in braiding machines. Together, they started producing ropes and cords. Step by step, Edelrid built up its expertise and continued to innovate. In 1880, it launched the first braided fishing lines, in 1953 the first kernmantle rope, in 1964 the first dynamic rope, and so on. Much of the safety of modern climbing can therefore be credited to Edelrid. The brand has continued to grow, and in 2006 it became part of the Vaude group.
