Why choose the Millet brand?

Choosing Millet means opting for the reliability and expertise of a French brand renowned worldwide. Since 1921, it has kitted experienced mountaineers and outdoor enthusiasts alike with durable, high-performance gear.

Hiking and trekking: how to gear up?

Millet designs and manufactures clothing, backpacks and footwear to ensure the best possible comfort, whether for a day hike or a long-distance trek.

Hiking jackets and trousers: made from stretch, breathable fabrics with water-repellent finishes or waterproof membranes (Dryedge or Gore-Tex).
Hiking boots: the Friction, Trident and G Trek ranges combine proven know-how for maximum comfort and grip.
Sleeping bags: ideal for bivvying, camping, mountain huts or refuges, allowing you to enjoy the scenery from dawn to dusk.

Winter sports: why choose Millet ski clothing?

Whether you’re skiing or snowboarding, on-piste or off-piste, Millet ski jackets and trousers provide optimal protection against moisture, wind and cold. Lightweight and comfortable, they feature waterproof-breathable membranes (Dryedge or Gore-Tex) free from harmful chemicals. The brand also offers fleeces, down jackets, beanies and socks to outfit the whole family.

Mountaineering and climbing: which range is best?

Mountaineering demands equipment capable of withstanding extreme conditions at high altitude.

The Trilogy range: a hallmark of Millet’s expertise, combining ergonomics, lightness and comfort (jackets Trilogy V Icon Infinium and GTX Pro, trousers Trilogy Gore-Tex Pro and One Cordura).
Mountaineering boots: robust, stable and grippy, they are the preferred choice of mountain guides.
Climbing shoes and apparel: precision, comfort and support for indoor climbing, bouldering or crag routes. Millet also produces climbing trousers and ultra-breathable trail running tops.

Backpacks tailored to your needs

The French brand offers a wide selection of backpacks in various volumes and configurations to suit your specific outdoor pursuits.

Millet: over a century of mountain heritage

From a small Lyon workshop to Himalayan summits, here’s how Millet shaped mountain history:

1921: founded by Marc and Hermance Millet, producing shopping bags and the first framed backpacks near Lyon, later moving to Annecy.
1950: collaboration between René and Raymond Millet with Louis Lachenal and Maurice Herzog for the Annapurna expedition. Millet gear used in Himalayan expeditions.
1959–1963: Italian guide Walter Bonatti becomes technical advisor and conquers the north faces of the Grandes Jorasses.
1960s–70s: backpack revolution with nylon. Creation of the legendary Sherpa 50.
1977: diversification with the first Gore-Tex parka, down jackets and ski clothing.
1978–1987: historic collaborations with Reinhold Messner (Everest without oxygen), then Christophe Profit and Eric Escoffier (winter trilogy Eiger–Matterhorn–Grandes Jorasses).
1995: acquisition by the Lafuma group (Millet Mountain Group). Millet becomes the official supplier of the Chamonix mountain guides (since 2010).
2000s: partnership with Jean-Christophe Lafaille (Himalaya) and Marco Siffredi (Everest snowboard descent). Launch of the Pierra Ment range for ski mountaineering.
2012–2020: multiple innovation awards (Everest boot, Gore-Tex Active ULZ Zip jacket) and creation of the Trilogy E-one backpack (lightest airbag on the market in 2020).
2021–2022: return to family ownership. Jean-Pierre and Romain Millet take over the Millet Mountain Group.

The brand is built on three pillars: innovation, an eco-responsible approach, and its community (guides, athletes, ambassadors).

What is Millet doing to protect the environment?

Millet focuses on six key areas to reduce its environmental footprint and promote more sustainable outdoor gear:

Recycled materials: target of 100% recycled fabrics by 2030.
Renewable energy: 100% of the company’s electricity comes from renewable sources.
Responsible production: streamlined supply chain to minimise waste and reduce packaging.
Circularity: maximising durability, repairability and end-of-life recyclability.
Carbon footprint: reducing emissions and funding CO2 capture projects (regenerative agriculture, renewable energy).
Charitable support: backing initiatives that protect nature (82X400, Riders for Refugees, 1% for climbing routes).

Human commitment

Millet places people at the heart of its operations, engaging employees through CSR policies, remote working and bike schemes. The brand ensures its activities have a positive social impact, inspired daily by its athletes and ambassadors who test products in extreme conditions to achieve excellence.
