How to Choose All-mountain Skis?
Here are all the questions you need to answer before buying the pair of skis that will follow you on all types of snow this winter.
What Ski Length to Choose?
Depending on your weight, the length of your skis will vary. By following these guidelines, you will maximize your chances of choosing the right model:
Skier under 11 stones: Height -10 cm
Skier between 11 stones and 13 stones kg: Height -5 cm
Skier over 13 stones kg: Height
If you are looking for a manoeuvrable ski that is less physically demanding, you should pick shorter skis. Conversely, if your all-mountain skiing lies toward freeriding, you might consider increasing the length of your skis. Strong abs and quads will be essential! Ultimately, it’s all about finding the right feel.
Finding the Right Waist Width
Having spent many winters on the ski slopes of the Aravis, I have noticed this recent obsession with wider ski waists. Please, don't fall into this trap. Keep in mind that a wider ski will naturally be more tiring for your legs but will perform better in soft snow. On the other hand, a narrower waist will offer better edge control and precision on hard snow.
What Bindings to Mount on Versatile Skis?
Classic Alpine Ski Bindings
Primarily aimed at beginner skiers, plastic alpine ski bindings are less expensive, yet still reliable and comfortable.
Performance Ski Bindings
These bindings are designed to meet the demands of the most demanding freeskiers who want to perform in all conditions. For example, the Look SPX 12 DUAL provides a secure hold and optimal power transfer for maximum performance.
Hybrid Bindings
Designed for ultra-versatile skiers, this type of binding allows for dual usage. This way, you can ski confidently on the slopes and also try ski touring to reach those untouched peaks you've been eyeing since morning.

How to Choose Your All-Mountain Ski Boots?
Experienced skiers will agree: it’s better to have good ski boots than good skis. Indeed, finding a model suited to your skiing style is essential to perform at your best. Consider the following elements on your quest:
Flex
This is one of the key factors that will determine your comfort level in the boot. In the all-mountain range, flex varies from 80 (the most flexible) to 120/130 (the stiffest). The stiffer your boot, the less comfortable it will be.
Width
A wider boot will offer more space for your foot, reducing friction and discomfort caused by a boot that is too narrow.
Size
While a boot that is too large won’t provide adequate foot support, which could put you at risk, a boot that is too small will impede blood circulation and lead to cold feet.
Liner
Some boot models feature a heat-mouldable liner, meaning it can be shaped to your feet. This operation comes at a cost, but it often guarantees unparalleled comfort.
