Description

The K2 Mindbender 88 ski is an all-mountain men’s ski featuring a Paulownia wood core, Titanal I-Beam reinforcement, and Dark Matter Damping technology, designed for skiing on groomed runs and at the edge of the piste with grip and stability.

What is the intended use of the K2 Mindbender 88 ski?

With an 88 mm waist, this ski performs on groomed slopes as well as for short ventures off the side of the piste. The All-Terrain Rocker in the tip and tail makes turn initiation easier and provides forgiveness in variable snow conditions. The Titanal I-Beam enhances stability underfoot. Dark Matter Damping focuses shock absorption in strategic zones to filter out vibrations without adding unnecessary weight.

Who is the K2 Mindbender 88 ski for?

This ski is aimed at intermediate to advanced skiers who are technically confident and looking to progress while exploring new sensations on light, fresh snow along the piste edges.

What are the strengths of the K2 Mindbender 88 ski?

Stability

Versatility

Edge grip

Is the Mindbender 88 stable in chopped-up snow and tracked conditions?

Yes. The combination of the Titanal I-Beam and Dark Matter Damping effectively filters vibrations and maintains composed handling when the snow becomes uneven or rough.

Does the Mindbender 88 handle powder snow?

Not really. On the side of the piste and in shallow powder, the tip rocker helps the ski stay on top. In deeper powder, however, the 88 mm waist reaches its limits.

What is the difference between the Mindbender 88 and the Mindbender 96?

The Mindbender 88 is more piste-oriented, with its narrower shape favouring precision and edge hold on firm snow. The Mindbender 96, being wider, provides better float and is more suited to deeper snow beyond the piste boundaries.

Tips and advice

After using our calculator, you can explore further with our guides (depending on your skiing style):

And to see the method in action, here’s our video tutorial (example focused on piste / all-mountain skiing, with useful benchmarks whatever your style).

At glisshop.co.uk, you’ll find one of the most comprehensive ski selections available online. To choose the right pair, start with three simple criteria: your ability level, your preferred terrain (piste, all-mountain, freeride, freestyle, touring), and your budget.

To refine your selection, several options are available:

  1. The advanced search tool: located at the top of each category page, it allows you to filter by brand, skill level, discipline, and more. By combining these filters, you can quickly narrow down the range and easily find the models best suited to your skiing style.

  2. Contact us on 020 3129 3301: a pair of skis is a technical piece of equipment. Before placing your order, it’s best to make sure the model truly meets your expectations. Our team is here to advise you.

To go further and understand the differences between ski types, take a look at our comprehensive guide 'Which skis to choose?'.

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

- by our skiman : you can call us for any technical questions. Our skiman will do the final settings for you. Telephone : 020 3129 3301

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.

Setting the release value of your bindings is a major safety issue.

In order to fully function and ensure safety, your bindings need to be set according to the Afnor FD S 52-748 standard. We wrote down a guide to help you find out the release value matching your needs.
