Our Review of the Burton Step On System
Burton's Step On boot and binding system is a genuine revolution in the snowboarding world. This technology eliminates the pressure points that straps can cause. The binding is minimalist, featuring a clip system to hold the boot in place and a lever for easy release. The presence of a traditional high back ensures the same responsiveness on backside turns, while the interface between the boot and the binding guarantees an excellent connection for frontside turns. Getting in the bindings is greatly facilitated, as you don't have to adjust straps, and you're ready to ride very quickly, with a simple click.
Burton Photon, Ion, or Ruler: A Wide Range of Boots
From models offering power and responsiveness like the Photon, or Ion to less demanding and more forgiving options like the Ruler, the range of boots compatible with the Step On system is extensive. All riders can find a suitable model and enjoy the simplicity and comfort of this Burton technology. The Burton Step On boot range includes models with Boa lacing, for speed and ease of use, featuring a super intuitive lacing system.
FAQ - Burton Step On
What is the Burton Step On system?
It is an innovation that eliminates the need for binding straps. The boot locks into the binding thanks to three connection points (two at the toes, one at the heel), delivering ultra-fast entry and eliminating pressure points.
How do you step in and out?
You are ready to ride in a matter of seconds by clipping your boot directly into the binding. To release it, simply operate a side lever.
Do I have to choose Burton boots?
No. Burton offers a wide selection (Photon, Ion, Ruler, etc.), but other leading brands such as DC and Nitro also produce Step On-compatible boots.
What closure systems are available?
Most boots feature the BOA system for quick, precision tightening. Those who prefer traditional lacing can opt for the Burton Kendo model.
Is Step On suitable for all ability levels?
Yes. The range covers every need (men's, women's, children's), from forgiving boots for optimum comfort to stiffer models for maximum power and response.
