The Blizzard Black Pearl range brings together all-mountain skis designed for women seeking precision on piste, stability in variable snow and greater versatility off-piste. The collection includes three waist widths: the Black Pearl 84, primarily geared towards piste skiing and changing conditions; the Black Pearl 88, which sits at the centre of the range; and the Black Pearl 94, which is better suited to the backcountry and powder. Blizzard Black Pearl 84, 88 or 94: which ski should you choose?

All three Blizzard Black Pearl models are all-mountain skis, but their different widths affect how they perform. The Black Pearl 84 offers the quickest edge-to-edge transitions and is the most piste-oriented. The Black Pearl 88 provides greater stability and versatility across a variety of snow conditions. The Black Pearl 94 has a wider platform underfoot for off-piste skiing and fresh snow.

A shared construction across the Blizzard Black Pearl 84, 88 and 94

The Black Pearl 84, 88 and 94 all feature a W.S.D. TrueBlend All Mountain Woodcore. Blizzard combines denser beech underfoot with more flexible poplar at the tip and tail. This distribution is designed to provide increased support through the centre of the ski while retaining a more progressive flex at either end.

The W.S.D. FluxForm All Mountain construction incorporates three Titanal elements positioned to enhance stability and power transfer without making the ski uniformly stiff across its entire width. All three models also feature progressive rocker at the tip and tail, combined with camber underfoot.

This technical platform is shared by all three Black Pearl skis, but their widths, sidecuts and turn radii produce different handling characteristics.

Blizzard Black Pearl 84 vs 88: what are the differences?

The Black Pearl 84 is narrower and quicker from edge to edge. It is better suited to skiers who spend most of their time on groomers and want to retain precision on firm snow.

The Black Pearl 88 offers a wider platform underfoot. This gives it greater stability in chopped-up snow and makes it more comfortable around the sides of the slopes, while remaining agile enough on groomed trails.

Blizzard Black Pearl 84: the most piste-oriented model

The Blizzard Black Pearl 84 is the narrowest model in the range. It is designed for skiing on groomed and spring or variable snow, with occasional forays onto the sides of the slopes.

  • Primary use: piste-oriented all-mountain

  • Waist width: 84 mm

  • Lengths: 146, 152, 158, 164, 170 and 176 cm

  • Turn radius: 14 m at 170 cm

Blizzard Black Pearl 88: the mid-range model

The Blizzard Black Pearl 88 sits between the Black Pearl 84 and the Black Pearl 94. Its 88 mm waist retains good precision on piste while providing more support in chopped-up snow and uneven conditions.

  • Primary use: versatile all-mountain

  • Waist width: 88 mm

  • Lengths: 146, 152, 158, 164, 170 and 176 cm

  • Turn radius: 15 m at 170 cm

Blizzard Black Pearl 94: greater off-piste capability

With its 94 mm waist, the Blizzard Black Pearl 94 is the widest model in the collection. It offers a broader platform and increased support in fresh or soft snow, while retaining camber underfoot to maintain edge grip on firm snow.

  • Primary use: off-piste-oriented all-mountain

  • Waist width: 94 mm

  • Lengths: 152, 158, 164, 170 and 176 cm

  • Turn radius: 15.5 m at 170 cm

What is the difference between the Blizzard Black Pearl 88 and 94?

The Black Pearl 88 is narrower, quicker from edge to edge and better suited to a balanced mix of piste skiing and exploring the sides of the runs. It is the most versatile option for a skier who wants to retain precise handling on groomed snow.

The Black Pearl 94 provides a wider platform underfoot and performs better in fresh, soft or chopped-up snow. It remains effective on piste but requires more input to move rapidly from one edge to the other.

Who is the Blizzard Black Pearl range for?

The Black Pearl range is primarily aimed at advanced to expert female skiers looking for a stable all-mountain ski capable of performing across a variety of snow conditions. The choice of model depends more on the skier's preferred terrain than on technical ability alone.

The Black Pearl 84 is suited to predominantly piste-focused skiing. The Black Pearl 88 is designed for a balanced mix of groomed runs and variable snow. The Black Pearl 94 is aimed at skiers who spend more of their day exploring the side country.
