Description

The Blizzard Black Pearl 88 women’s ski is an all-mountain model with an 88 mm waist, designed to link up groomed runs, piste edges, soft snow and chopped-up terrain with a stable, precise ride.

What is the Blizzard Black Pearl 88 designed for?

With its 88 mm waist, it maintains excellent edge grip on hardpack while providing support when the snow softens. The traditional camber underfoot delivers rebound at the end of the turn and holds well on firm snow. Its construction combines a Trueblend Woodcore with titanal reinforcements to achieve effective stiffness without compromising the ski’s lightness. The double rocker helps it lift up in light powder and makes pivoting easier in mixed snow conditions.

Who is the Blizzard Black Pearl 88 for?

Advanced to expert level. For committed female skiers who have solid edge control, vary their turn shapes and want an all-mountain ski capable of carving, cruising or charging depending on the snow conditions.

What are the strengths of the Blizzard Black Pearl 88?

Powerful

Stable

Versatile

Is the Blizzard Black Pearl 88 suitable for piste skiing?

Yes. Its traditional camber and 88 mm waist provide precise edge hold on groomed snow.

Can you take the Black Pearl 88 off-piste?

Yes. Its 88 mm waist and double rocker allow you to venture off the side of the piste, into light powder or soft snow, without losing manoeuvrability too quickly.

Is the Black Pearl 88 suitable for expert skiers?

Yes. Its W.S.D FluxForm All Mountain construction with three titanal plates ensures high-speed stability for advanced to expert skiers.

What type of turns does the Blizzard Black Pearl 88 allow?

Its versatile turning radius varies with ski length, ranging from 11 to 16.5 m. You can make short, snappy turns or stretch out your arcs depending on the terrain.

How does the Trueblend core affect snow feel?

The Trueblend wood core uses multiple densities to fine-tune the flex pattern. You get a balanced snow feel with lively rebound through transitions.

Tips and advice

After using our calculator, you can explore further with our guides (depending on your skiing style):

And to see the method in action, here’s our video tutorial (example focused on piste / all-mountain skiing, with useful benchmarks whatever your style).

At glisshop.co.uk, you’ll find one of the most comprehensive ski selections available online. To choose the right pair, start with three simple criteria: your ability level, your preferred terrain (piste, all-mountain, freeride, freestyle, touring), and your budget.

To refine your selection, several options are available:

  1. The advanced search tool: located at the top of each category page, it allows you to filter by brand, skill level, discipline, and more. By combining these filters, you can quickly narrow down the range and easily find the models best suited to your skiing style.

  2. Contact us on 020 3129 3301: a pair of skis is a technical piece of equipment. Before placing your order, it’s best to make sure the model truly meets your expectations. Our team is here to advise you.

To go further and understand the differences between ski types, take a look at our comprehensive guide 'Which skis to choose?'.

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

- by our skiman : you can call us for any technical questions. Our skiman will do the final settings for you. Telephone : 020 3129 3301

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.

Setting the release value of your bindings is a major safety issue.

In order to fully function and ensure safety, your bindings need to be set according to the Afnor FD S 52-748 standard. We wrote down a guide to help you find out the release value matching your needs.
