Stockli Turtle Shell Technoligie

Alpine Ski Stockli Laser AX

Ski sold without binding.

Stockli, the Swiss ski expert, carry over this winter the Laser AX, a high-end all-mountain ski powerful on all terrains. The swiss finish is always perfect and the endowed technologies are innovative. We discover the Turtle Shell: an adaptive reinforcement that evolves according to the terrain and the TFC that delivers a better tail torsion thanks to a rubber insert that eases the turn exits.

What can the Stockli Laser AX ski can do?

This stiff and sportive ski is a true slope bomb, it shreds corduroy like nobody’s business. The edge to edge changes are stunningly quick and you will arrive at the bottom of the hill in a record time without burning your thighs. Thanks to its snappy tail you can enjoy great acceleration coming out of turn to engage even more in the steep. The Laser AX is ideal to have a blast carving from dawn till dusk. It also offers great abilities in fresh powder on the side of the slopes. With its 78mm waist and its tip rocker it floats well when the powder is not too deep.

Who is the Stockli Laser AX ski designed for?

We advise this high-end ski to demanding confirmed and expert riders seeking an all-mountain ski packed with the latest technology to tackle the slopes at max speed and have fun in all snow conditions the rest of the time.

Manufacturer info :

Type of turns

  • Long turns

  • Directional (front tip)  :

The ski shape allows only a directional use.

Structure - Construction

  • Sandwich System  :

Sandwich construction is part of a quality ski. This construction layers different materials chosen for their physical characteristics depending on the characteristics needed for the ski.

  • Tail Flex Control  :

Specially placed rubber inserts mounted on the tail of the ski make turning easier. The tail adapts itself to the moment when the turn triggered until it is released and thus prevents the edges from gripping the snow too long. The entire turn is thus steered via the shovel.

  • Turtle Shell  :

Inspired by nature, Stockli developped its Turtle Shell Technology. The underlying principle is astoundingly simple: the joints between the plates on a turtle's shell are flexible so that the turtle can breathe in and out easily. If the shell is struck with any significant force, however, the plates contract and interlock to form a hard shell. Skis with Turtle Shell Technology react in much the same way, varying the ski response according to speed. The result is a ski with an unusually broad range of capabilities.

    - Torsion-neutral & Soft at low speeds

    - Sporty and rigid at high speeds and when being heavily weighted

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.
