Description

Did you get infected by the virus too? Ski touring is an addiction and we know that well but instead of fighting this addiction we’re just going to help make it worse. We’re evil aren’t we? Throw your old skis away, quit renting and get yourself a pair of VTA 80, a great Volkl touring ski with an incredible value for money.

What can the Volkl VTA 80 touring ski do?

It is an entry-level touring ski, designed to comply with the needs of newcomers, for those who want to discover the intense satisfaction of reaching the peak by the sole traction of their legs. The VTA 80 weighs only 1250g in 170cm which means it works well when the path points uphill. You won’t burn your legs too fast and you should have enough energy left to enjoy the descent, descent on which the ski turns into a good performer by the way. Featuring a rockered tip doing a great job keeping the turning easy, it also maximises the ski versatility by offering a predictable conduct in variable conditions. You’ll appreciate how smooth the ski feels on the slopes. However, if the narrow 80mm waist makes the ski light and nimble, you’ll have to sacrifice a bit of floatiness on deep powder. The real main advantage of this ski is its pricetag. Combine it with a binding like the Scout from Diamir or the TLT Speed Turn by Dynafit and you get a very good set to start touring with.

Who is the Volkl VTA 80 touring ski designed for?

Ski touring was considered an exclusive sport for ages but things have changed, the equipment is more and more affordable and easier to use. The VTA 80 is the perfect example, it’s an entry-level touring ski suited for a large crowd of skiers who look for price and quality at the same time.

Tips and advice

On glisshop.co.uk, you may feel overwhelmed by the amount of products we sell. How can you find the right skis, which ones can suit your level, your style or your budget?

Your options:

1. The advanced search engine: You'll find it everywhere on our website, as a sidebar on our listing pages. It allows you to select conditions and refine your selection: brand, level, style, etc. When you select them, only the relevant products will show.

2. You can contact us on the 020 3129 3301: skis feature fine technologies and affect your safety. It is important to make sure that the skis you've selected will suit you. Call our landline and get in touch with our team for any questions regarding these products.

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

- by our skiman : you can call us for any technical questions. Our skiman will do the final settings for you. Telephone : 020 3129 3301

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.
