Climbing and mountaineering equipment

Camp offers a wide range of equipment dedicated to climbing. Its R&D department designs everything essential for safety: ropes, lanyards, harnesses, carabiners, belay devices, pulleys, blockers, nuts, quickdraws, descenders, helmets...

The Italian brand also develops specific mountain equipment for ice climbing, via ferrata, as well as mountaineering and glacier hiking.

Backpacks for mountain and alpine terrains

Camp designs various types of packs for hiking, trekking, trail running, alpine racing, ski touring, climbing… Naturally, some models are versatile and can be used for multiple outdoor activities. Camp is known for the durability of its products. The backpacks are no exception to the rule. They are both strong and light, major advantages for short and long outings. Carrying comfort is also a key element. They are also recognised for their functionality, most Camp backpacks being equipped with external attachment points: ice axe holder, rope holder, ski carrying system, pole holder...

Camp Safety

Camp is also known for its range of products developed in collaboration with professionals working at height. Just like climbing accessories, the focus is on safety, lightness, and the strength of the equipment, to meet the demands of the most experienced climbers.

History of a brand focused on outdoor sports and activities

The history of Camp (Conception of Mountain Articles Premana) is that of a remarkable rise. It began in 1889 in a blacksmith's workshop in Premana, a village in the heart of the Lombard Prealps. Founded by Nicola Codega, the company was focused on equipment for outdoor activities and working at height. It has been passed down from generation to generation, with each descendant bringing their innovation, like Antonio who, in 1920, created the brand's first ice axes.

The golden age of mountaineering saw the brand partner up with Riccardo Cassin (1909-2009), an iconic climbing figure, who forged his own pitons. This fruitful collaboration led to the creation of numerous climbing and mountaineering accessories, propelling Camp to the international stage with innovations such as the first ice axe with a metal handle in 1969 or ultra-light carabiners in 1987.

The end of the 20th century saw Camp expand its expertise beyond the Alps, with the opening of international subsidiaries and the acquisition of the Cassin company, thus consolidating its mountaineering heritage. The entry into the new millennium was marked by prestigious collaborations and continuous innovations, such as the creation of the Camp Safety division, responding to the growing needs in terms of safety for working at height.

Today, after more than a century of existence, the brand celebrates a rich history of 135 years, always looking towards the future. From Nicola Codega's workshop to the Olympic stage, the company has evolved while remaining true to its roots, embodying a taste for adventure, innovation, and a passion for the mountains.
