Jones Snowboards and Environmental Commitment

Jones Snowboards aims to be a model brand in eco-design, environmental awareness, and mountain safety education.

Eco-design at Jones starts with the use of sustainable materials, whether renewable or recycled. It also involves responsible use of water and energy, along with environmental impact assessments at every stage of the product life cycle. The brand works hard to reduce its carbon footprint and invests in renewable energy.

Jones also doesn’t work with just any factory. The brand maintains partnerships and ensures that the factories producing Jones Snowboards contribute to stable employment and social responsibility.

Finally, the brand gives back by supporting non-profit environmental organisations. Among these is the NGO Protect Our Winters, which seeks to inspire and mobilise the outdoor sports community in the fight against climate change. Jones also contributes to 1% For The Planet and Community Carbon Trees, a reforestation project.

Materials Used in Jones Board Construction

In the manufacturing of Jones snowboards, nearly everything is either bio-sourced or recycled. All the wood used comes exclusively from renewable sources, i.e. sustainably managed forests. Since 2010, all Jones snowboards have featured 100% recycled steel edges, deliberately built thicker for added durability. Likewise, the ABS sidewalls are entirely recycled. The topsheets are also sustainably produced: most are bio-plastic made from castor oil, while others use wood veneer. For reinforcement, while some models require carbon to achieve specific performance levels, more sustainable resources such as basalt and flax are used wherever possible. Finally, both the glue and wax are of natural origin.

T-shirts, Caps and Jackets: Jones Also Offers Clothing

Jones also develops clothing with this dual goal of performance and eco-design. All materials used are Oekotex and/or Bluesign certified, and much of it is recycled. These include organic cotton, recycled down, recycled polyester and nylon, and more. All water-repellent finishes are PFC-free, except for the Gore-Tex Pro range, where no alternative currently offers the same performance.

For clothing too, social responsibility in production is closely monitored. All factories are VSCI or WRAP certified, ensuring fair wages and safe, healthy working conditions.
